Some of the dealers are not even aware of the equine discount until you bring it to their attention. And even once aware of or even if they were aware the price they come up with will vary. Visit ALL dealers within a reasonable drive that can provide service after the fact. I can ASSURE you the equine discount can save you A LOT!!!!! Kubota pricing is ALL OVER THE BOARD! On a recent purchase of a B2601 and some implements I saw almost a $5k spread in pricing!
I got the impression to join the equine program you had to own a horse. Is this correct? Not shopping now but curious...

No, you just have to be a member of the organization.

My understanding is that they're clubs. You sign up using the form on the website, you pay your membership dues. They don't care whether you have a horse or not, you paid your membership.

Kubota sponsors NCHA & although it doesn't seem limited to that organization, it's the only one called out specifically from Kubota as eligible (https://www.kubotausa.com/equine-offer). It appears one can join as a beginner for free but worst case looks like $80. Their site isn't exactly clear (https://www.nchacutting.com/beardnav/get-started/getting-started).

I don't even know what a "Cutting Horse" is but since the tractor I want apparently isn't eligible for special financing but is eligible for the equine discount, it looks like I'm all of a sudden a big Cutting Horse fan, lol. +

Looks like the discount isn't applied to options & one is still responsible for the setup charges, shipping, etc. so still worth shopping around considering the options can easily cost more than the tractor itself. As a side note, I asked about the possibility of setting up my own tractor & returning the dunnage & bringing it in for inspection but was told that it's part of the dealer agreement that the dealer has to set them up.

Ryan Lynch on YT has a bunch of setup videos posted including pretty much start to finish on a B2401 w/FEL (https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLN-ISx-NwkU5UVj8EQjMRiv4DorslbypP). Each tractor & all bolt-ons that come unassembled appear to come w/detailed assembly instructions (which I intend to get w/my tractor) and to me it looked kinda fun. Even if it took much longer one would know so much more about their machine and save some $ in the process. A savvy dealership might even offer a program where one could "work" at the dealership while assembling their tractor for people who wanted to do so although Kubota might frown upon such an agreement.

I suspect the Health and Safety and Legal folk would frown on it more than Kubota. And make it impossible.

When I bought mine I researched for a few months.
I never had anything larger than a lawn tractor so I wanted to do the research.
The closest dealer is about 20 miles away. I spent a lot of time emailing and talking to him before I ever stepped foot in the dealership. When I asked about pricing he suggested I look around online and see what was available to me. He said he would match or better the best deal I could get.
He gave me free delivery and offered to pick it up for the 50 hour service N/C.
Being a first time tractor owner I had a lot of questions and he always had time to answer them and take care of any concerns I had.
I would hope that most dealers would be this courteous and helpful, but maybe I just got lucky.

I just completed a build your own on Kubota's site for a B2601. The base price Kubota listed is $16,025. My dealer in central Virginia has quoted me $15,500 for this tractor.

So a bit less, but I've gotten the impression from discussion boards that the dealer's price is often at least $1,000 off MSRP. What influences these things? How can I find out or negotiate? I mean literally, do I say, "I will pay XXXXX"? If I do that, I have to walk. And I'd like a B2601.

On most options he seems a little high. I am trying to get a clarification on his loader, bucket, quick attach price because his quote is $4225, whereas I read the web quote/manufacturer's suggested price as $3,929. Maybe I missed something as the online loader pricing is piecemeal. It's a difference of almost $300, but he didn't list the grille guard and I've emailed him to ask if that's included.

Another example: he quotes a manual Land Pride front 5' blade at $1,820. The manufacturer's suggested price for it on the web quote is $1,753. So only $67, but that adds up over several implements.

Maybe I'd be better to work harder on getting another $500 off the tractor? I don't know how motivated he is to sell. Or, yet, what they have in stock. This dealer is 2 hours from me but they are getting ready to open a big branch in my town.

It seems to me he has knocked a little off the tractor and is making it up with the implements. There is a $700 implement rebate being offered, but that shouldn't seem to inflate the price on each implement. Maybe it does.

Obviously I don't know where or how to best negotiate. I'd appreciate any advice.
Central VA... I just bought an MX 5400 from Collie Equipment in Danville... Really good guys and my sale price was about 4K or more below the build price.
