First post, so please be kind. šŸ˜…

After navigating our bush trails successfully with the factory sunshade on, i foolishly caught it on a leaning tree by the driveway and cracked the front left corner. šŸ¤¦

Just wondering if anyone has advice about a good product to repair the crack. TIA!

Welcome to the forum!! We are always kind!!! Wink Wink - nod nod!

IT would help tremendously if you could post a picture of the crack and how it affects the shade.

Also - is it fiberglass? Plastic? or?

Hopefully it's fiberglass which would be easy to fix. I just received a bunch of mat, resin, filler etc., from fiberglasswarehouse.com for a big project.

WalMart and many auto parts houses sell fiberglass repair kits with mat, resin, and hardener. A can of spray paint when the repair is complete can make it appear as if nothing ever happened.

(if itā€™s a small crackā€¦ JB-Weld may be a simple fix. )

Thatā€™s plastic. If it was fiberglass you would see the strands of fiberglass in the break. Use a plastic welding 2 part epoxy and repair it.

Take it to a body shop or search plastic welding on Youtube and buy a kit to weld it.

contact manufacturer and see WHICH plastic it's made from. Go to an 'auto body supplier' and buy the CORRECT 'epoxy' kit. drill small hole at ends of cracks. follow directions and repair the crack.
Done properly it WILL be far stronger than the original. "kid' next door does 2-3 car/truck bumpers a month and NONE have ever come back in over 10 years so I know, done right it's a done deal !

You might look around for someone that does repair on bumper and paint scuffs. They may already know how to fix it and do it for a ā€œreasonableā€ price.

I had a plastic bumper on a car fixed that had some damage but I donā€™t think it was really cracked just damaged or gouged. After the repair it looked like new and the paint matched exactly. The inside surface might not look like it did but the outside surface should look nice.

It sure looks like plastic. If that was mine I would just use a good quality "super glue" made for plastic. I would probably have someone hold it together and put packing tape on the outside of the crack. Flip over to expose the underside and run the glue over the crack where it will seep into it. Wait until it is properly cured and then remove the tape. The tape will also stop the glue from going onto the top surface where it will wreck the surface.
