I am going to be a little contrary on this one... I would (and did) get 48" forks. The reason is a little better visibility of the ends of the forks. On my tractor it is difficult to see the tips of the forks (even at 48"), and the extra 6" matters. I would not get the longer forks to be able to push the load further out, but strictly for visibility. In fact, you always want to drive the load to the back stop... and if you do that then the load does not change.

Also, the longer forks allow you to hook a pallet in the back of the pickup truck to straighten a pallet or drag it to the back of the truck so you can get your forks further under the pallet to reduce the load to the tractor.

I hope that makes sense... I was happy I got the longer forks for the reasons above, and have not regretted it.

Well, I pulled the trigger on something I didn't even have listed:

https://www.palletforks.com/titan-skid-steer-42-pallet-fork-49-hay-bale-spear-trailer-hitch-attachment.html

This unit was similar to what I had listed: 42" Titan forks with the trailer receiver hitch except this also included the hay spear and stabilizers for only $493 - $53 more than what I had been looking at which I thought was worthwhile even though I might not use the hay spear a lot. This unit seems to be pretty light to preserve my lifting capacity. The only negative I see with these forks is that they don't have the back cage to protect the tractor itself from a shifting load. I figure I'll see how it goes and if need be I'll get something welded on top.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and suggestions and I'll let you know my experience with this new unit.

I have a set of the ANGSUN/Terra Force 48" 4K pound forks for a SSQA on my L4600 and they work as advertised. They are a bit heavy which cuts down on my lift capacity but, I see a larger tractor in my future so at $500 it was an easy choice. Most loads are bulky and 800 pounds and under so, not a huge issue for me in general though, I do have to break loads down occasionally to fit the lift capacity of my Tractor/Loader/Forks. Pallets of concrete are the worst but, range cubes, feed, etc. can add up too!
