Long story short: can anyone tell me what the pictured plug behind the seat in my L6060 is for?

Long story:
I want to add a light bar to my tractor. I bought a bar that came with a wiring harness and instructions. The typical method is to wire it to your battery and install the switch, relay, etc. However, I read in my manual about this "accessory electrical outlet" behind the seat in the cab of my L6060. The manual puts it over your right shoulder if you were sitting in the seat. The manual shows a picture of the "outlet" near where the cigar lighter is. It calls the cigar lighter and accessory outlet as well. In my manual it says the outlets are good for 25 amps which is what the corresponding fuse is rated for in my interior fuse box too. This is enough to power my light bar and it would be so easy to wire into this outlet instead of going through the firewall to the battery, etc.

So I call my dealer and they say the plug for this type of connector is $85 and it comes with the male end to the connector in this photo and it comes with 12in of wire. Well, I found the corresponding connector for $4 on an American website. So I ordered it and it fits perfectly and I wired the male end to the light bar and it all connects just fine.

Well the light bar doesn't turn on. It's getting power to the switch and the relay but not to the lights. Can't figure it out. Work at it for a while and then decide to drive my tractor to its parking spot away from the garage and try again later. Well it stalls.

This is the weirdest thing. The tractor stalls forward and reverse ONLY while I'm plugged into this connector! I unplug the light bar connector from the female end (pictured) and the tractor drives as normally.

It is the exact same function as the seat safety switch. As if I was trying to accelerate while not sitting down. As soon as I unplugged it, no issue.

My only thought is that somehow this pictured plug is NOT the "accessory electrical outlet" and it's somehow connected to the seat safety switch. When plugged in it's somehow telling the tractor my butt is not on the seat.

Any help would be appreciated. My next idea is to wire the light bar to the cigar lighter or just go through the firewall to the battery like I admittedly e should have done in the first place. Please help me figure out what this plug is. Thank you!!

It could be that the plug has a hot (+) and a negative (-) side and you have the wires reversed. I would check to see which side is hot and which side is the ground/negative (-). I had an experience with LED lights that wouldn't work because the polarity was reversed.

Its a two pin plug....so logically a hot and a ground. Probe them with a test light and see if that is the case.

Now that's bizarre. Have you owned the tractor since new?

Have you checked whether the outlet is live with a multi-meter? Typically they'd be live when the ignition is on, but not when it's off. Checking that would be a good start. If it is live when the ignition is on, then it could be either a proper accessory outlet, or, as you say, a safety switch (those would also presumably be powered whenever the ignition is on).

Is there supposed to be a switch as well - on the dash perhaps to turn them on? You presumably don't want the lights on permanently? I used an accessory outlet on my B2601 to run a rear mounted sprayer, and a rear mounted fertiliser spreader. But I actually had to run a switch wire back to the dash so I could turn it on and off....so in some sense I may as well have wired it directly to the battery or to the fuse box - which would have avoided running a wire all the way up to the dash. I guess I also could have put the switch down the side near the 3ph lift lever.

Usually unused harness plugs have some sort of cover or are taped off at the factory. Are you sure it isn't supposed to be connected to something?

I'd suggest finding the wiring diagram for your machine to see what the wires are for before tying in.

connector has 2 pins, red/? and red/wht.
One should be live +12, the other switched +12
GROUND wires are always solid BLACK, well so I've been told...

wiring diagram would really,really help.

Assuming you didn't unplug it, it's not the seat switch but it sounds like it is.
So ... was is connected to ANYTHING before you started ?

On my BX23S the 'worklight' connector had blue taped over it, a normal factory deal

OK, just checked... kubotabooks dot com HAS the L6060 WSM(just got it...)
That connector 'might' be the seat tilt switch, though need to KNOW what the colors of the wires are. one IS red/wht, other might? be solid red ? Please confirm/dent what they are so I can scan the diagram for that connector. Diagram shows THREE 'power connectors' ! They all have yellow(power) and black (ground) wires.

Does yours have a backhoe? Wondering if it’s a connector for the second seat??? Which may be there and unused for those without a BH??

This is it. It was the receiving end for the seat tilt switch! I don't have a tilt seat so apparently it's just a loose plug and plugging into it made the tractor think I was tilting the seat. Now I think I don't have the accessory electrical outlet and I'm going to give it a shot wiring it into the cigar lighter.

Thanks for the input!

Problem solved:

It was not the accessory outlet, it was a connector for the seat tilt switch. Plugging into it activated the seat safety switch, shutting down the engine if I accelerated.

I attached these photos to show you why I believed it was the accessory outlet based on the manual, but upon reviewing the workshop manual I saw the tilt switch plug was located in the same area and looked exactly like my connector. So much for that.

New plan is to wire into the cigar lighter.

Thank you all for the ideas and help!!

So the accessory outlet is not present at all? Reading those man pages it looks like the optional component is the cigar outlet which you do have.

Well it probably is there. Behind the seat are 3 plugs but they're all connected to something. I haven't tried much to figure out what they are; I'm going to call my dealer today and try to figure out which one is the accessory plug and identify it with a photo instead of unplugging stuff till I find a problem. 😂

if the three have 2 wires, solid yellow and a solid black they ARE the 'accessory' connectors.
BTW...Any connector used for 'accessory' will have a solid BLACK wire connected to ground.

Thanks for the info. Could you tell me how you learned this? Just so I know for the future problem solving?
