I have a 1983 Kubota b7100hst4wd that I just got thru doing a extensive rebuild on. I mean I put 2000 in parts. It's was my dads and has a lot of sentimental value to me and worth it. It had lost power over the years so I decided to rebuild it. The problem was in the head which I took to a local machine shop and had it redone. I replaced all three piston, rings, sleeves, connector rods, bearings, bought the bottom and upper seal kits replaced every seal on the motor, injectors, you name it I replaced it. The only thing that I didn't replace is the injector pump 800.00, which is on the way now. I ordered the service manuals and put every part back to spec. Now after getting it all back together and running which sounds really good when it's setting there, when I try to mow or take a big hill it Boggs down and want come out of it unless I stop and let it catch up, then does it again. I have checked over everything making sure that everything is in time all piston and valves are coming up and down as they should and I'm ready to pull my hair out or push it over a hill. If you have any ideas or suggestings please let me know.

I'm sure that you've been down these roads, but here's what springs to my mind:

1. Fuel filter clogged
2. Fuel return hose clogged
3. Governor springs broken or installed wrong
4. Dirty fuel
5. Dirty air filter

If it is really "just got thru doing a extensive rebuild " i would run it in a little bit. Start it and rev it a touch, maybe 900-1000 rpm, let it run like that an hour, checking occasionally for over heating. Then mount up and start just driving it around for another hour, slow at first, then pick up speed and in higher gears.
See if running it in and seating moving parts settles it in.
You had the radiator worked-over right? you gotta have good cooling in a fresh motor.

If that fails I'd be looking at the governor. It sounds like it isn't increasing the injection length properly as the load increases. Could be the arm isn't hooked into the injection rack.

I ordered a new govern rod as well just in case it was bent during putting it back together. I don't think that it is but I'm trying everything that could be possible.

Does your engine have a decompression lever? If so it could be adjusted too tight; allowing the engine to run but not developiing any power.

When I first got my L175 and tried to adjust the valves the first time, turning either of the two valve cover bolts less than 1/4 of a turn made a difference in the valve adjustment. I know it isn't supposed to, but it did.

On a brighter note; that is what caused me to find this website, which has been a tremendous help in maintaining my Kubota.

Yes it does have decompression, I never thought of that but I can see where that could happen. My pump and governor arm is going to be here mon if they don't fix it I'll try adjusting the decompressing handle. Thanks for everyones help I'll post back when I figure it out.
