OK, I got sloppy and stabbed my B3200 tractor in the eye and broke a lens cover. It's just the lens cover I need but Kubota only lists it as a whole assembly, a $217 assembly at that. 6A700-54130 part number, that may be the $258 one with bulbs.

The lens I actually broke says Knights BL11-249L on it. Of course I can't seem to find such a critter on the internet. I suspect it's made overseas despite the English writing name on it.

I have checked online at Messicks and Colemans. I called Messicks this morning and they only have the $217 assembly.

Anyone know where to find the lens? anyone ever take the headlamp assembly apart. It looks snapped together to me with a bead of black rubberized sealant. (quite soft).

Help help!

thanks.

You could try finding a used assembly, but as far as new goes your probably not going to find anyone selling just the lens. ;)

thanks guys and thanks for those leads.

yep, it just galls me, my fault I got inattentive and the end on danger didn't catch my notice until it happened. I'm usually slow and careful. Stuff happens I guess.

second galling is the price on the plastic assembly. A less than 2 pound plastic thing with a few subcomponents. The whole thing shouldn't be more than $35 looking at it but this is a full on gouge item. Chevy does the same thing, nope can't buy just that, you need the whooole assembly.

I made a few calls and didn't find a used part, and after taping all the broken bits together and finding I didn't have all the pieces parts. I ended up buying a new part.

Sigh. stupid tax paid.

SteelonSteel, good to know you've got a replacement coming, just pains to spend that kind of money for something so simple and something you know you could/should avoid.

I know the pain. I had a torsion spring break on a garage door. Called the guy to get it replaced, and he had to come back a couple days later after he got the correct one.

since it was inactive for a couple of days I took the idler spool off at the mount above the door to replace the pot metal piece. While I had it off, the remote was activated and jammed the chain which broke the drive gear inside the actuator.

All I had to do was unplug the thing, but like you said, stupid tax is due!!

Hey, good to have you here.

Thanks for the welcome.

Yep, I can entirely relate to that kind of self inflicted damage. How many times in your life have you done something like this. Start a job and identify a hazard and say to yourself, don't do this. Get distracted or delayed and come back and do exactly that. BTDT. Fortunately it's usually stupid stuff like working on boats on the water and dropping parts, tools, or nuts/washers into davy jone's locker. I got in the habit of keeping extra thrust washers and such from old kits on board for the next fumble fingered brain fart.
