A neighbor has a 20 yr old Danuser F8 post hole digger that he's used maybe 20 times. Is $900 a decent price? I know it's well built. It sells for $3K new. I'll be using it on a Kutota L3901 HST. Everything I have is slip clutch so this will be my 1st shear pin implement. It's rated for 40hp and up so my 3901 is a bit under that. Any thoughts?

A 12" auger. Another neighbor has a 9" & a 15" that he will loan me. I think I'll use his 9 more often than the 12.

Around here, that would fetch $400-700. Remember, to take a big pipe wrench with you, when you are using it, to unscrew the auger from the ground, if you hit a rock or root, and it sucks the auger into the ground...:D:D

If one is digging hole at engine idle or a little above idle speed instead of WOT the chance auger corkscrewing into soil is greatly diminished.

I'd rather give $900 for a slightly used Danuser PH digger than buy a new low end PH digger. Does used digger have the down pressure kit? IMHO Danuser is the Cadillac of pendulum PH diggers

No down pressure kit. Soil here in Missouri is rock hard clay when it's dry and quicksand when it's wet:). I haven't seen it yet so I need to see what condition it's in. I've heard the condition is good.
