No wonder there aren't any trees left around there !
It's in the desert. I know it well. There haven't been real trees there, for miles and miles, for centuries. No wonder there aren't any trees left around there !
Yep…that’s how I finally got the courage to jump off the trestle into the Caddo River at Glenwood, AR…. I’d always wanted to be brave like the teenagers did … but fear of the train got me over fear of the height above the water…We have one like this close by me except it's made with metal. As a teen, I got caught in the middle when a train came. Scared the crap outta us guys as we ran for the end just like on the movie Stand By Me. We also have a very long train tunnel that I got caught in when a train came and had to run along the wall in pitch blackness feeling for a cubby hole to duck into. The stupid things we did as kids....

Hey, I know the feeling. I learned to swim in the falls in Sioux Falls. I look at those now on post cards and wonder why I am alive! https://www.experiencesiouxfalls.com/listing/falls-parkWhere I live, we claim to be the limestone capital of the world and with that, we have active and inactive limestone quarries practically everywhere. As a kid, that's where we all hung out during the summers. You would walk up to a popular one on a hot summer day and there would be 50 to 100 teens swimming or laying out on the giant cut slabs stacked on top of each other. Ledge jumping was a popular past time with the highest ledge being 67' above the water. I have jumped and even dove off of that ledge so many times. It can be scary though as you have to clear the step-down ledges on the way down. Sometimes I wonder how I ever made it through my younger years!
On a side note - some of the best fishing I've ever done has been in those quarries....
Those are beautiful and look like a lot of fun. I can see why you hung there!Hey, I know the feeling. I learned to swim in the falls in Sioux Falls. I look at those now on post cards and wonder why I am alive! https://www.experiencesiouxfalls.com/listing/falls-park
