My HST 3430 starts and then will shut-off suddenly. I replaced the fuel shut-off solenoid ($175) and that wasn't it. I have eliminated the seat switch so far and I cleaned the fuses. Any ideas or experience with this problem?

Dave - assume you mean L3430 HST? Cab or ROPS?

How long does it run before it shuts off?

Is it a consistent length of time, more or less?

It shuts down as though you turned the key off...i.e. shuts down real quick, without stumbling/sputtering first?

Also - go here, and get a free Workshop Manual (WSM). I see a WSM labeled "L3130-5030 WSM", so I'm guessing your L3430 is included, but you want to check:

I have a suspicion, but it's kind of a guess right now.

It's a ROPS, and it shuts down quick because the fuel shut off solenoid engages (or disengages). the time varies from a few seconds to several mnutes, maybe even 20-30 minutes. And it is an L3430HST, you're right

Dave -

Something is shutting her down....

I know you checked the seat switch, but I would start by double checking that. Seems like a long spread of time.

Also, other thought is OPC (Operator Presence Control) module in dash.

Before you start replacing parts, check the WSM. It should have some troubleshooting for both. It could simply be a bad electrical connection, or a finicky seat switch that needs adjusting.

No sense to replace good parts with good parts.....I’m not an electrical expert by any means.

Other guys may have another take on it, but a place to start.
