I wanted something that would be easy on/off, would give me some mounting options for things like a carry all and not interfere with back hoe. Attached pictures of what I came up with.

Not sure I would want to haul anything heavy with it but it will work fine for a small wagon and the like.

I will mount another receiver on the back of the tractor if I need it for the heavier hauling.

PS my welding is the pits, but I am working on it.

Cheers
Andy

Also watch that it doesn't create torque that could problems with the joints...

If it works for you...that is all that matters...

Clean everything to clean bare metal for the best welds...and practice, practice , practice. Cut some of your welds in half to check penetration...

Redlands - Not sure that little clevis mount is up to a ripper (it IS a grade 8 from Kens Bolt on hooks but...)

Thanks Lil Foot. Look forward to it.

tarmstong - Porosity is my welding bain. Been reading on 22 potential causes and am now trying to sort it out.

Rust, paint and gas flow if its a mig. Someting i did yesterday while welder was cranked up is sped up my wire feed. It for some odd got much better results.
I swapped rolls of wire, and i could see a noticeable improvement. Wont buy forney wire again.

Stick welding, the guy that helped me get started said slow down, its not a race.
Comfortable position and relax. If you are concentrating on holding your arms up and standing too, it gets akward. I have an adjustable stand for resting my elbow. Like night and day.

By the way,i cant weld with a flip up helmet any more. Electronic or forget it.

Good plan for the reciever, then its adaptable.

Hmm, now a one tooth ripper into the receiver could be handy also

Perhaps i should have typed a bit more. Not thinking of some 2 ft long blade for roots or breaking up hardpan. Thinking more of a one tooth of a size like you have on the existing bucket. Backhoe operators i have worked around have one tooth on the back / bottom of the bucket to help rip up ground or a large root that is a bit harder than their bucket will dig full width. Yes they are welded on and much stronger so you would have to be careful and perhaps it would still not be strong enough.

I kind of like that idea. I WAS thinking you meant something like the rippers you see for sale - but a small one to aid in the excavation might be just the ticket. Thanks for the idea.

I have to watch going over uneven ground (dragged the BH at one point). Live and learn.
Agreed, learned the same thing- I've dragged the backhoe a couple times previously even without the hitch.
