My first tractor…?

Not to rag on other brands, but I used to own a 1025R so I'm a member of a JD tractor forum. People are complaining about poor assembly quality of their new green tractors. Bolts that are not torqued properly at the factory leading other issues shortly after bringing it home.

JD's response is that bolts loosen up, have to be checked regularly, and that any damage as a result of loose bolts is a lack of owner maintenance so they're not covering it under warranty. . .

For me, my 1025R was the most frustrating tractor I've ever owned. Enough so that finally gave up and traded it in on an orange tractor. I've been happy ever since.
I won't buy another JD product.

I could check some dealers a bit further away, do Kubota dealers have varying pricing or is it pretty much MSRP?

If you're financing with Kubota, you're most likely looking at the MSRP prices on Kubota's website. Don't forget that ordering and adding features with the order is usually cheaper than adding after the fact.

I don't know what your comfort level is in terms of distance to a dealer. When I looked at Kioti almost three years ago, the only thing that gave me pause was the more than 2 hour drive to the nearest dealer with a decent work shop area. Compare that to having the fifth ranked Kubota single owner dealership in the country just 3 miles from my house! I've driven both tractors to the dealer via back roads a number of times to have upgrades added. If Kioti had a decent facility up here I'd most likely have an RX7320 rather than an M6060.

I wouldn't buy any John Deere products either. I would buy some other brands though such as Takeuchi, Kioti, Yanmar and maybe a few others. As silly as it sounds, I can't stand the green and yellow color combination, particularly the yellow. I'm ok with the green but it's that yellow that looks toyish.

I've only owned one JD product and that was for a couple of years starting in 2011. I don't remember the model number but it had a belly mower and was smaller than a BX. There was nothing memorable about it. I paid $2,500 for it (bought used) and sold it for a few hundred less when I moved from Arkansas to Montana.

I've had and continue to have an outstanding ownership experience with five Kubota products over the past 8-1/2 years, so I'm definitely in their camp.

The JD utility size tractors are fine. Their subcompacts have way too much aluminum castings and plastic.

Well, if I was given a JD utility tractor (the only way I'd get one), I'd have to spray the wheels a different color! Maybe Kubota orange like the Claas or a red color like the Fendt.

The small JDs aren't made by them I believe. The big JDs are good machines, but like all big corporates they get you coming and going on the maintenance and locked computer programming. Kubota do that too I guess.

I'm not a fan of the small JDs. Kubota are more of a specialist in the small machines, it's their heritage.

I agree on the yellow, I don't like it. I feel that came after becoming a Kubota fanboi though. Before I owned a Kubota I'd probably have said the orange isn't particularly attractive.

That is why they are a light weight tractor, had four wheel drive when others didn't, had rice tire options, had a drain in the bottom of the bell housing, had snorkel option, and a few more odd ideas.

Then that wet area could be a playground!!!

Adding tile, using a mole plow, french drain etc. I wish I had drainage problems, because that would mean that I have water. It's very dry where I am, not AZ dry, but we don't get much in the way of rain. Most of the rivers and lakes up here are filled by snow melt.

That bottom wet area is part of a slough ( https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/slough.html ) that connects to the Pacific Ocean. The creek under our bridge seems to rise a little with the tides. The bottom area isn't always soggy but really comes in handy during the winter rains. The creek overflows the banks and floods that area (more so the downstream neighbor) which then drains quickly as the rains subside.

Saw my first muskrat in the creek by the mailboxes, cute as it could be!

We are lucky to have a fair amount of underground water with natural springs poking out in a few places. Not gushing, but enough to make the footing super soft around the berry bushes on the property line. Former owner with his BX and the fellow with the Bobcat tracked skid steer both got stuck there.

The neighbor pulled them both out.

Berry bushes!! Now we're talking. Do blueberries like wet feet? Berry season could be fun. I also really like citrus, if you're near the ocean and you have water you could plant great citrus?

FWIW, I looked at the price spread on this class of tractor (after reading that thread) using the Kioti build site, and it was maybe $1K. Of course a Kioti dealer might give additional discounts. I remember when I bought my Kubota, the price spread was less than $1K. Kioti was never a serious possibility for me due to the lack of dealerships in the area.

My Kioti just came out almost $8k less with tax cash price then the Kubota quote I got on a smaller tractor. By the time you added the larger tires, rim guard, loader, 2 rear remotes, 3rd function, and small Kubota rebate. Kioti gave me the loader for free and a discount but the 3rd function was $200 more installed. I am using the $8k to buy accessories and love the tractor so far. Don't go by online pricing for quotes. Visit dealers and get them in writing with current promotions. With 2025 models on the way there are good deals out there now.

Kioti 2620 HST 4x4 with 3rd function & loader, grapple, & 60" box blade came in $900 less than the L2502 with same functions and accessories. For that difference, seems like a no brainer to move forward on the Kubota. This was based on cash price. Plus, Kubota 0% finance for up to 5 years is also a nice option and the added cost to finance was only $700 vs Kioti which was almost 5X that.
I'm in New England and I know it varies by region, but I haven't seen the savings on Kioti I expected.
I'll be buying my Kubota in the next week or two.

Did you miss the Kioti almost $6k free loader rebate on the CK ? For financing I think the cash rebate isn't applicable either. I thought the free loader rebate was till the end of this month and didn't matter if financed. I just saved $8k over a Kubota on my Kioti purchase.
