I am new to the forum - I took delivery of my new MX6000 with cab about a month ago and I thought my rear defroster didn't work worth a darn. Well, I took a closer look and neither of the two connectors had anything plugged into them. I loosened the headliner and dug around in the back of it and found a single wire. My question is this - is there only supposed to be one connector wire, or two? I plugged it in and it still doesn't really work at all. I called the dealer and they stated there was only one wire. Seems odd to me especially considering it still doesn't really work. I would load it up and take it back but it's a two hour drive one way. Thank you in advance and sorry for the question -- hopefully I've put it in the correct forum.

hmm. maybe check the fuse panel o see if THAT fuse is missing ? I would think a defroster should have a 15 or 20A fuse ?? This 'should' be in the manual ''somewhere'.... could be aster to google though , knowing how car manuals are today !

In order for the defogger to work you need a complete circuit. It has to have power and a ground in some form or another. Everyone I have ever seen has 2 wires as the heater is not going to ground itself through the glass.

I have an MX6000 with cab with the optional rear defrost. It's wired as shown below.

Thanks for that picture, MXMCI - I only have one wire on the right side - no wire on the second side and that was my concern - there was no second wire to complete the circuit. I guess I need to fish around in the headliner some more. I didn't check when I picked the tractor up and wondered why the rear defrost (glass mounted) didn't seem to work at all. I also thought it was silly when I called the dealer after only finding a single wire that Kubota would have two connectors on the defroster and only one wire - the dealer told me one wire was all there was. Now I either need to find that other wire, or, I dread this, have to take the entire headliner off.

Also, thank you to GreensvilleJay and Ruger1980 for the responses - I thought it odd that there wasn't a complete circuit and I did check the fuse block and all seemed well there. (I have been known to overlook things that should be obvious in the past) One more thing, it is a defrost grid on the rear glass.

Pulled in my garage and spent a while fishing around in the headliner. I finally dug the other wire out - it was buried up there - and now it works like a champ. Thank you again for the sugg and pictures.

Good that you got it sorted, but bad that you had to do any of this. So many posts here confirm what I've learned over the past six years ... that my dealer is nothing short of phenomenal. Three tractors, a generator and lots of implements purchased from them and not one single issue. They take pride in what they do, they treat the equipment as if it were theirs and they know what they're doing.

The local dealership has known real tragedy over the past three years with two young men losing their lives, one in a skiing accident and one in a car accident, and yet this dealership continues to excel when it comes to the products, the people and the service. Remarkable!

it is tough to find good dealerships these days. I grew up farmIng in the 70’s - over 1,000 acres and 250 head of beef - we never had much but we would bend over backwards to help our neighbors. It sounds like for all your dealership has been through and they are still that dedicated- never go anywhere else! Dealerships like that I am willing to pay more for a great relationship. Thanks again to all. Now off to move snow on over 2500’ of driveway.
