Tractor shopping and sizing can be amusing and at times, hilarious.

I hadn’t been to my Kubota dealer in months but, I stopped by last week to pick up some supplies and parts for my Stihl trimmer.

I was pleasantly surprised that they had plenty of new tractors on the lot, at least 30 assembled (I’m assuming most are sold and awaiting pickup/delivery). They even had a couple on the showroom.

Now to my point, one of tractors on the showroom was a new LX and as I passed by it, I was thinking it’s a big tractor, lol. It looked HUGE on the showroom. And, I was thinking, is my L2501 that big?

Following my transaction, I went outside to inspect the rest of the assembled tractors and to seek out an L2501/3301/3901 to compare to the LX. Not surprisingly, the L is in fact larger than the LX, as I remembered, lol.

It’s just so funny that in different environments, tractor size is distorted.

In closing, I remember when I got my new L2501 to my property (after already owning and working my property with the B2601), I realized immediately, that I could have easily purchased a larger MX or Grand L and it wouldn’t have been a ridiculous upgrade or purchase for my property.

Great post! It's also interesting how we get used to something fairly quickly. I was in a mild state of shock when I bought the MX6000 about a year ago having spent five years with a BX25D. Now I think the MX is small after looking at the M7060 and M5 tractors. I honestly think I could have used an M on my property but there's no question that the MX tractors are close to perfect for what I need and do.

I thought my MX was huge on the dealers lot, but it seems just right for my 20 acres.

How much larger is the M5 over the M7060? I was looking at the specs and the height is the same and only a few inches longer in length if I remember right. Tires were almost same diameter but lots wider.
I have a 7040 now and a M5-111 on order, I haven't seen them side x side.

Thanks, I really like the M5, I had an M7060, it developed fuel system problems at around 50 hours, it is a long story, the dealer made it right and ordered me an M5_091. I have bought a few items from my friendly Kubota/Land Pride dealer.

Well I believe the M5 is somewhat heavier, the loader has considerable more capacity, the cab is bigger, three point hitch capacity is greater, front axle seems heavier and noticeably more horse power with the M5-091 over the M7060. The M7060 had 16.9 Radial rear tires vs 18.4 Radials on the M5, I had cast centers on both tractor rear wheels. My M5 scales at 9860# on a certified scale with 4 front weights, no loader, three sets of wheel weights, never had opportunity to scale the M7060. The M7060 measured 60 corrected horse power on the PTO using a calibrated AW PTO dynamometer, the M5-091 measured 91 corrected horse power on the PTO using the same Nebraska Test Certified dynamometer. The shuttle on the M5 is electronically controlled vs the M7060 which is manual control of the shuttle valve. I like the M5 much better than the M7060.

I asked my dealer if they'd get me a poster showing all of the tractor models. They have a 2021 poster on the wall but the images of the tractors aren't scaled correctly. I'd like to have a photo or poster showing all of the models with the images scaled so that it's obvious as to the size differences.

If I buy a few more tractors, hell I could produce a poster of the different size tractors!
