Hello there..Ok, so I had my Kobota MX5100 up and running and it just quit while i was putting the shredder back on. Now it doesn't start. Lights are strong, but wont turn over. I unplugged the "switch under the seat", and that didn't help. The clicking was not there when I did unplug it - not sure if that means it was working or not. Seems like a "switch"..Any advice?

Is the seat switch normally open when no occupant? If so, you may have to jumper the wire going to controller logic to pretend to "close" the switch when seated. (if faulty switch...)

PTO is in off position...it quit after it was idling a little bit, and i was trying to get the mowing blade back aligned - I didn't think anything of it until about 20 minutes later when i got it all back together and tools put away

yes seat switch is open with no occupant...not sure what wires to jumper to check if switch is faulty

There would be two connectors (or a twin connector) plugging into the seat switch (not sure of exact connector of your model). You need to short out the connectors on the cable (not the seat) to test if the fault is a faulty switch.

Try holding key to start and operate the following switches back and forwards if it has them to ensure they are in the correct position, neutral safety switch (forwards/back or shuttle) depress clutch fully, PTO etc. As it stopped while running, it's possible one of these is the culprit, because they would stop the engine if activated when you are not in the seat. They will also inhibit the starter motor. If your starter motor started the engine prior, I doubt it will be a problem with the actual starter or solenoid.

Ok..I held the key in start mode and moved the PTO switch back and forth as well as depressing and releasing the clutch. The same 3 lights stayed on - Oil pressure, Battery and Glow Plug.. No flicking or change at all. This is an HST, not sure where the neutral safety switch is, or if it has one.

From reading posts of owners of other models of tractors especially on newer year tractors, the safety system for the starter is not a simple safety system like a garden tractor which would have each safety switch wired in series with the next until the starter solenoid is reached.

Rather there is likely an electronic box called an " Operator Presence Control" which receives individual signals from each safety switch and then, based upon its programmed internal logic will either allow the tractor to start or even shut it down.

An example of this logic would be the pto lever. If the tractor is running, pto engaged, and you get off the seat, does an alarm sound or does the engine stop?

When you try and start the engine and the pto lever is engaged, the starter should not receive any power.

Can you please tell us how the pto safety switch operated previously when all was good.

The Operator presence electronic control would trigger a relay to send power to the starter. Look at the fuse and relay assembly on your tractor for something blown or loose in its socket

The following info is for a B21 which is also HST somay be useful in understanding your tractor.
