I just did the 50 hour service on my gear drive MX5100, I changed the hydraulic filter and was a little shocked with the amount of trash stuck on the magnet. I have a loader so there is a lot more going on than a bare tractor. I can understand some metal paste but I had multiple 1.5" long lathe turnings  Is this typical?
I use Wix filters on my equipment and have been very happy with them, but the magnet will not fit in the Wix. From what I found I obviously want that magnet back in there and as soon as possible. Spending $40 on a filter from Kubota seems very excessive, is there a quality filter that will accept the magnet?

It's not like it has to be changed all the time. My advise is stick with Kubota filters.

I know the manuals say different but those metal shavings and metal paste are why I do a complete service (fluid and filters) @50hrs including the front axle. I don't know why Kubota changed, my L3000 manual (2000 model) said to do a full service @50. Gives me piece of mind and worth the extra money, but that's just my $.02.
