Been looking for a MX series tractor and will likely buy used. Unfortunately used MX tractors with a backhoe seem to be few and far between. If I was to purchase the tractor and backhoe separately what would be required to retrofit the BH? Subframe, hydraulics, ? Thanks in advance.

I believe the Kubota matched backhoe kit comes with the subframe and hydraulic lines. You would need rear remotes for hookup. IDK how many remotes are required; but getting less than 3 makes no sense.

What he said^^^^

If your credit is decent, buying new with zero APR is almost like free money. Finance the MX and BH and everything you need in one expensive shot. Keep your wad of tractor cash in the bank earning interest and make tractor payments. You might save $ in the long run.... or not.

Why does a backhoe hookup require rear remotes?

Good day,

I am not competent enough to tell you for certain how mine is piped, but I do not plug into the rear remotes with mine.

mine has a return line (looped) and when i connect the backhoe, I break the loop and one portion goes to the BH and there is a line coming off the BH which returns, and this is connected back to the loop. Not sure that makes sense or not, but I most certainly do not connected to the rear remotes at the tree (manifold) of remotes.

these are not really good pics but maybe they will make some sense of it? (The lower loop in the pic is what separates and connects to the BH.)

mine connects just the same as the video in the link…

I believe those two hoses are connected to the aux control valve manifold shown below. They attach were plugs 120 abd 130 are imstalled.

If the tractor does not have remotes the BH would attach wiyh an adapter plate for the outlet on the side of the hydraulic cylinder case.

Thanks everybody. I did get a quote from the local dealer for the MX6000 along with a BH92. Dealer quoted $2,000 for installation of the backhoe.

installing the needed hydraulics is a complex task. i would say not a diy project. kubota installation directions leave out a lot of info.

i just installed the hydraulic thumb on my bh92 myself and i would say just that was moderatly difficult. mainly because the directions were pretty not existant.

the dealer i bought my bh92 from installed it no charge.

The ones I’ve seen use rear remotes.
Kubota backhoes Do Not require rear remotes, they use a dedicated pair of lines, 1 pressure,1 return. These lines are constantly flowing pressurized hydraulic oil and must be connected together when removing the backhoe.

I just installed a BH92 on an MX this year. The process was very straight forward, and I found the instructions to be very clear. No rear remotes are needed, and the kit had all the hydraulics required. It taps into the existing hydraulic plumbing. The backhoe comes with everything needed, and you buy the specific subframe for your machine. I'm pretty sure I have the BH92 assembly directions on my computer, and can shoot it your way. I would NEVER pay $2k for the install after doing it once!
