Bx25d with 60 inch mower. Anyone get a vac grass collector and if so what brand and do u think and is it worth it?

I would like to skip a couple mowings and this way when I do no clumping in yard just suck it up was the thinking.

I picked up a gently used Trac Vac 580 for under $500 and love it. Only complaint is the price of their boots...had to pay $250 for one for my deck and I also have to remove the lower link arms to tow the vac behind the BX

Kupitz,
Any chance you could post a couple photos of the proper Trac Vac chute? I just did the same, bought a good condition 2nd hand 580 but the chute isn't quite right. So I'm trying to sort out whether I'm better off modifying it or forking out the cash for a new one.

mtnmatt, what mower deck do you have? There is a different chute for the different decks. I can't remember exactly off the top of my head but I believe I have the 54" fine cut deck, the chute is even different from the standard 54" deck. If you have a different model my photos won't help you anyway.
Best to contact Trac Vac with the exact model of your deck and they'll tell you which model chute you need. I have the 661-6 for reference, so if that is the model they give you I'll be happy to get you photos and dimensions.

Thanks Kupitz,
I'll look at the exact model tonight. I'm fairly sure its a standard deck, but as a recent acquisition, I can't be sure.

I bought the Cyclone Rake many years ago now. Worth every penny. I did not buy their mower deck boot. I bought the Kubota boot. It fits like a glove and goes on and off with one thumb screw. (And it should, it's made for that mower deck) No cutting the boot or adapting the deck. It has an 8" output and the CR I bought has an 8" hose. No adapters. It works great and what I really like about it is it doesn't pivot like a trailer model. It follows the tractor on the castors. No need to leave a big long hose for making corners. They are very well constructed and the people are great to work with.

Sorry for the ultra slow response...
My mow deck is a RCK54-22BX.

I've tried the vac out using a temporary solution trying to determine if I can get by with modifications or of I need to spend yet another $250 on the right chute. So far this spring I've had little time to tinker, so the jury is still out.

Thanks for any input or photos you can provide.

I have the grass catcher I got from the dealer when I bought my new BX2660 to go with my 60" MMM. It collects the grass and leaves just fine during normal use, but if the grass is long and/or wet, sometimes it struggles by clogging. I definitely couldn't skip a week of mowing and expect it to handle it no problem. I frequently have to slow down my forward speed to make sure it doesn't clog up. If it's a normal cutting length and dry I can mow and bag at full speed no problem.

I compost all my grass so the bagger is on all summer long and I do like it.

Thanks David,
I've had similar results so far although the mowing season is just getting ramped up.

I'm using a hodge-podge jury rig for the ill fitting chute that came with it and it works ok, but I would imagine that performance will improve once the proper chute gets applied.

Cheers
