It's been hot here in the Hartland. Temps around 98-100 for the 10 days or so. I've been planning a driveway and have finally found time to do the prepwork.

Drainage around my building was less than optimal. The building is 25 years old and things have settled over the years. I used the FEL on my L3130 to clean things up and set the grade for appropriate drainage. I'm a rookie operator and I'm sure the pros would have made quick work of this project.

Next I'll put down the geotextile fabric and perhaps gravel by the end of the week. I have my name on the waiting list for asphalt millings but nobody can supply me at this time. I'm thinking gravel may be the best after all as I'll be able to blade it for the years to come.

yeesh 100 is too HOT for me !
GeoTex only stops most of the 'in ground' weeds from poking up ,does NOTHING for the 'airborn division' of weeds. If you use getTex, spray poorman's roundup first. vinegar/salt/soap, or drain a leaky filled tire there...

There was a guy over in Wellsville selling container type bridges on FB last week, if you never got that project finished. He even said he could set them, if needed.

After grading, I chose to put down geotextile fabric. At one time, there had been a gravel drive up to the building but the areas around the building itself was soft, black dirt.

After a very long dry spell, the day I had the gravel trucks scheduled, it rained 4.8". In driving rain, they just dropped the loads with no chance to tailgate spread.

Here's end results. I'll park a trailer on the left of the building and use the right side for visitors, etc.

I have 3-6" over everything and suspect it will need some tuneup as it settles in.

The geotextile was a hassle ( bunching up under spinning wheels ) when I had to be on it with the tractor and work the piles. it's fine if all you need to do is drop a load and spread. I'm glad it's down around the building.

Thanks to all who offered advice. I think it will serve me well moving forward.

Looks great! Getting ideas when I have to extend our paved driveway to the barn. Right now just drive over the grass/dirt. When it rains, which has been constant this year, gets muddy. Have seen a YouTube video with someone using the geotech. Appreciate your assessment on driving over it when spreading the gravel. Great job on your project.
