Missing mystery tab on the dash L1802DT (or L235)

Hmmm..., just looked to a YouTube video of a Kubota l1802dt (USA L235)... And there I noticed that my L1802Dt is missing a tab in the dash... shock... Whats that tab for? My kubota just has a small hole in the dash where the tab used to be Anybody any cleu? Am I in trouble?

On your tractor, is there a hole in the dash in the same location? May be an optional feature that wasn't added on your tractor such as a pull cable for decompression.

You can see from a different video on a l1801d it’s a decompression knob based on the symbol. You can see it on other videos for 1802dts as well. Probably was stuck and previous owner just removed it and never replaced it? Mine was frozen when I got my kubota and I replaced it.

Does it hurt the engine if i would not install one?

It's not gonna hurt anything for the decompression cable to be disconnected. They did away with that feature on newer tractors.

Decompression is used to help get the rpms up when attempting to start the tractor in really cold weather. Pull the cable out after running the glow plugs but before starting. Crank engine over, when rpms get up to cranking speed, push the lever in to engage compression.

I've used the feature on my L1501 a couple times when starting in really cold temps where the battery is a little weak. But realistically, it dumps too much fuel in the cylinders and makes it harder to start my little tractor.

It starts easier just using a battery maintainer to keep the battery fully charged, and starting the tractor normally

Thanks for the info. I am glad to hear it is not going to hurt anything. Here in holland it can freeze but thats getting a bit of a rarity with global warming I suppose. Only had two weeks of frost this year...

That means I got a hole to fill with a new feature [emoji846]
(That just sounds really bad... ) But I am going to put a switch up there to switch on some additional lighting I think. But first a roll bar... projects... projects... projects ....
