I have an old jc penny riding lawnmower that the deck was shot. It's been sitting in my shed for years. I got it out the other day and put a jump start to it and it started right up. It has a 14 hP Briggs motor. I got the wild idea of making a mini
Jeep for my great grandson. So I took some measurements did some drawings and decided to go for it. I just started tearing it apart. I'll post some pictures as progress continues.
Has anyone else on OTT done anything similar?

Update;
Well it's finally starting to take shape. At least it doesn't look like a lawnmower anymore. Here's where I'm at with it today. When I get it built I will disassemble it & paint it. (to cold to paint now)

STOPPPPPPP hold your project. :D If your going to do it.... do it right.

While I love old Jeep's and that name; thou spelled different, Jeep was even my nic name for 18yrs...... this is a Tractor forum and while Jeeps had a very small history in AG work... nothing matches a truck yet tractor AG product like the old Unimogs. Better yet: some say "Real Mogs are Orange" so that fits in with us Kbota folk good too. Being that it is straight cuts and flat panels..... would be even easier to make too. :p So make it a Unimog 411 :D and paint her Orange

Here is one hell of the most happy young ladies I've ever seen in her little Unimog 411 kiddy car (homemade) Damn well made with accurate sounds and everything.

Another update.
Well I'm making a little more progress. I just stuck the white disc's on the front to get an idea of how I'm going to make the "pretend" headlights. The tail lights & parking lights will be on all the time when it's running. Before everyone jumps on my back, I know the front tires are to small, but I just used what I had on hand.

Thanks Wolfman, but I don't really want the headlights to work. I'm afraid if they did the little guy would want to stay up all night driving it.

I dodged the bullet with the one I had in the garage :D Sold it on craigslist last week. Still trying to keep the wife from seeing it though. Pops has two of them sitting over at his place with no decks and still running :rolleyes:

Great job!!!! I love it. Problem is I'm buying a new zero turn in the spring and that will leave my 18hp craftsman with no use. Thinking Gravedigger? :D

I think a mini gravedigger would be pretty wild. Don't forget the pictures when you get started.

I'm starting to get excited. I want to get it finished and the snow go away so I can take off down the road in it. (probably end up in jail)
