Yeah it doesn't lol. From my experience and what I'm seeing is look for a solid or heavy frame and thick or reinforced blade. Mn, IA, IL are all about the same for equipment types and equipment for what I'm seeing 500.00 can get you a nice hd blade. If something looks cheap or in the weeds there's a reason why it's there.

500 for a blade? I have been looking for a used one for the last 4-5 months and the only ones I see that are 500 bucks are pretty old and rusty. Where are you seeing these blades? I found a dealer 1.5hrs from me who has a RB1684 in stock for like $1400. My two dealers that are a little closer don't have any but quoted me the same price.

And that model is fairly lightweight and doesn’t offset. The heavier models that offset start at $2k. I had a Landpride blade for 21 years. It didn’t offset. Every time I used it, I found myself wishing for that feature. When I upsized my tractor, the first thing I bought was my current Bison blade. Road work and ditch maintenance are now possible without getting too close to the ditch embankment.

Facebook marketplace and Craigslist for heavy duty decent looking used blades. I'm not sure where exactly in MN you're located but here's some in state.

I spent the last 2 nights searching online for used blades. Being frustrated I dug into this project. Lots of diesel fuel and cheater bars and it's appart.......I think it's the smartest choice.

$500 for a blade???? Are you referring to a used blade? Because you can’t even touch a new one for 3-4 times that amount. The problem I found with used blades is finding one with the pin offset feature. You have to spend a few bucks and look specifically for that style of blade.

In my area of WI. Yes 500.00 for heavy duty blade and usually with a tilt feature.

If you decide to look for another blade I have three recommendations: 1) buy heavy; 2) buy one with offset potential that can be offset by adjusting a pin, not unbolting the moldboard; and 3) make sure you can spin the blade 360 degrees while attached. Too light of a blade won’t cut, but just skips along on top of the road, and no offset capability means that it’s hard or impossible to clean out ditches and recover gravel from ditches. Being able to turn the blade around 360 degrees allows for reversal to plow snow without moving gravel, or simply smoothing gravel or dirt while traveling forward.

Thanks. I do what I can to preserve and use old iron. I usually get my pieces from a fence line for 100.00 and often think to myself what a shame. At auctions I get pretty mad seeing the local scraper out bidding a guy on small old implements who'd use them just for them to get scrapped. In my area food plot guys or Amish make it hard to find stuff for a decent price. The funny thing is my 150.00 dollar implements do the same as my neighbors 150k implements.

They don't make stuff like they use to anymore. No pride or loyalty in a name. Cheapest material and numbers out the door it seems. I worked at a factory that built pieces for JD, Cat, and Oshkosh truck. I'd tack weld 3 pieces together and send it down the assembly line for a Crack head to run a bead of caulk over the welds to look like it was a solid line down.

That looks awesome. Well done, and it looks wide enough for your tractor so you probably don’t need an offset blade.

Thanks. It is a night and day difference. After painting it I realized you can remove 2 bolts and offset the blade. It is just wide enough for the tractor but would still like a 7fter to speed things up or get closer to the buildings. Hopefully the new paint catches someone's eyes if not I'll run it this winter.

From past experience, offsetting a blade by removing bolts doesn’t get done often. Because once you get it offset, you want to spin the moldboard 180 degrees and of course you can’t do that. The pin offset blades do solve that problem.

I bought a Bison brand blade because Landpride blades were out of stock. I really like it, but many manufacturers make blades like I described. A costly but really well built option is made by everything attachments. Something like this would work for you.

I have an Everything Attachments "6 Way Deluxe Scrape Blade", and it is a pull pin, and push to offset .
I have a King Kutter also, with the remove bolts type offset.
I have used the KK blade ONCE!

On my 8’ Bison blade I discovered that unless the tractor is sitting level, the weight of the blade can take you for a ride when I pulled the offset pin. Since the offset mechanism is a telescoping rod, I replaced that rod section with a ratcheting link. Now I just use the ratchet to offset in or out. A cheaper option than full hydraulics.
