Mid PTO on B series tractors. Size spec?

Having done a pretty fair search on the topic, And needing to produce a male spline shaft to couple the mid PTO on a B7200 to a snow blower, I see dimensions such as 31/32 -10

Should that really be 25 mm -10?

I can purchase 25 mm or 1 inch "stress proof", but 31/32? Odd size .

I'm thinking Japan=metric= 25 mm.

Verification anyone? 31/32 = .968", while 25 mm = .984" ... .020 is "insurmountable" when it comes to sliding spline shafts together.

While I'm on the subject of PTO shaft for a front mounted blower, Is there a rule of thumb for when mid span support bearings are required, and when they are not? I have seen Kubota mounting kits with both executions.

Give it up! I have tried to source aftermarket for any of the manufacturers that we carry for mid PTO parts. They make it odd for a reason.

You will have to source the drive line parts from your local dealer and customize it from there.

There is no need to "give it up".

I have already two complete Kubota PTO shafts, that include three female 25mm-10 spline u-joint yokes.

It's a simple enough task to cut splines on a length of shaft to end up with whatever configuration of drive line I care to produce.

If These components were not at hand, I would need to source them from Kubota or second hand etc. But with them, All that is required is some time in the shop and some specs.
It won't be hard to "cut to fit". So even specs are just something nice, not a requirement..

Thanks for your comments, I won't continue searching for some "after market" producer of the spline elements.

I would think that you are going to need the slip coupling that slides onto the mid pto. On my old B7200 I was able to obtain an old stock pto shaft from a dealer. It used the telescoping shaft that used the 1" X 1 1/8" shaft and tube style. I adapted it to the readily available Weisler components to fab up the remainder of the drive assembly required to connect to the blower.
Not sure if all mid pto's are the same but the one on my 1985 B7200 was identical to the one on my new LX2610.

Those are involute splines and almost surely metric. You need more than diameter and count.
  1. Number of teeth
  2. Module
  3. Pressure angle
  4. Type of root
  5. Class of fit

This would definatly be the easiest route to take. Those couplers/MMM driveshafts pop up on ebay and other places from time to time. I'd hack off the end and weld your own shaft to it......

I finally got back to my mid PTO shaft spline problem I purchased a adapter that goes from a 31 /32 -10 spline inside and a 1 3/8-6 spline on the outside the part was $26.99 problem solved thanks for the input from all of you
