I went out there earlier and the old possum was up on the porch bench just chillin out, probably just trying to stay warm from the warmth of the window. Tried to scare it off and it just ran to the corner of the porch and wouldn't move (playing possum). I learned a long time ago (the hard way) that there is no such thing as a harmless wild animal when you have them cornered. Thus I left it alone and went back inside. I have had to pick them up and carry them out of the garage before, so it doesn't bother me but I won't approach a cornered animal of any type. I was trying to run a coon off once wen I was younger and had it backed into a corner. Yeah I learned a lesson. An expensive painful one.
Ringtails will put the meanest junkyard dog in the hospital. They get primal when cornered.

.22 adjusts the bandits outlook on life!
couple years ago I had a big possum get into the garage. I chased it out, kept coming back. Grabbed the 22 and shot it. Right behind the shoulder. Ran off. What????? Blood trail too. Turns out it ran into the back yard got up behind the privacy fence and there it sat in the corner. It was hissing at me pretty good like they always do and I thought to myself, man if that thing's still alive I cant just let it suffer with a hole in it....so I put the barrel right up between it's ears and let one loose. Still ran about 20 foot out of the gate and made it a few feet and keeled over.

Possums are TOUGH!! Stupid thing cost me about a quarter to put it down too.

speaking of critters the neighbor killed a skunk this past Monday and that skunk tested positive for Rabies.
