The tractor is pretty much relegated to the shed now until the first snow deep enough to get it out to clear the driveway. In the mean time how would a guy keep mice from making your tractor a home in the mean time?

Moth balls, mouse traps, there is also an electronic ultra sonic mouse repellent that works great if you don't have cats or dogs.
One of the most effective ways I have found of getting rid of those)(*&^#&*())!_ critters is to make a pop can trap,,,

Actually the ultrasonic mouse repellant doesn't bother dogs. Can't speak for the cats. Wife had picked up some of the pet friendly ones from homey depot to keep me from tearing a wall apart to get at a mouse. Mouse was gone by the next morning, and the dogs will lay in there bed right next to it. Picked up a couple more and have them in the garage now, and throughout the house. No more mice issues 
Luckily my L3200 is cozy in it's 20' rodent proof Modular Shipping Container... well, rodent proof is claimed, I guess I'll get to see if that is correct.

Mice will enter the air inlet to the air filter and chew it up. Placing a screen over that opening is the least one should do. The insulation on most wire is plastic that has had vegetable oil added to make it flexible. That vegetable oil attracts them and they chew the insulation. It isn't just tractors that have this, it is cars, well wiring and the like. Another culprit is a squirrel.
Fresh cab for the interior parts. Its like potpurri, dont smell like moth balls.

Scented drier sheets work good for keeping mice away. Plus they are cheap if you get store brand.
Works great! Used this method for years. Also use moth balls - those little buggers really scream when you pull them off.

Must have better eyesight then me If you don't know, Just wing it.I aint figured out how to get their little legs apart
Any of the rodent poison baits like Mouse-Pruf or similar.
Open the packs and place two, four, or a dozen all over a piece of machinery under the hood in the cab, under the radiator, stick a pack anywhere you can wedge it tight.
Change all out every year or so when you see packs being emptied.
Not kidding even a little bit: probably got fifty little yellow sacks and cardboard triangular boxes hid all over all the rolling stock.
Little boogers ate through a fuel line on welder. Good thing the barn cats had already given up smoking.

I had a 200 gal. sprayer that had a 1 1/2" dia. black rubber hose coming from the bottom to the pump. It was hanging there thru the winter and when I went to use it they had eaten a notch in it that was 2" wide to a "V" on the other side. Almost eaten in two! I had used that for Tordon, 2-4-D, Remedy, liquid fertilizer and a few other treats! I think they are attracted to something in the rubber.
