Thanks for sharing.
I could identify with many on the list.
I have a niece that thinks like this. Her dad hires out everything he can, so she learned to solve problems in her own method. She's amazing, but others sometimes see her as stubborn or opinionated because she does thing other women won't even attempt, and she succeeds.

I resemble these traits.

I don't enjoy fixing things like I used to. But it sure comes in handy.

The older I get the more I prefer that things just work. But I still get that itch when they don't.

Thanks for sharing this video. :)

Not only do I like to fix things, I like to improve them.
In my home, something breaks or burns out, I fix it immediately, not in an hour or the next day. If I'm in bed and the light bulb burns out, I get up and replace it immediately.
It has gotten to were my wife is 'ho-hum' because something broke on a Sunday afternoon and she knows I have the 'parts in stock' and it will be fixed in minutes. Now if I could only find that....

Good video…………...I can relate to many of the feelings that video describes.

I have always felt that when something breaks, I take that as a challenge to fix it.

(I mean why not?…..If it’s broke, there is no risk in taking it apart….it’s F’ing broke man!!!!!LOL)

I love working on things and challenging myself……..In general, I find “mechanical puzzles” intriguing/irresistible.

I'm not as proactive as you, but we do share some traits. Wifey is also good at noticing things and offering suggestions on repairs. She does have mechanical aptitude and helped me wire several new houses before we had our offspring:)

I can fix lots of things immediately to a level of "OK". Given a little time to think it through I can do better. For "great" results it works best if nobody rushes me.

Wifey never complains about my large stock of stuff that many people would trash because she knows that it has been very useful for oddball repairs at odd hours. Some short pieces of pipe, wire, etc can allow me to get things running. In the wee hours of a Sunday morning #1 Son called with no heat. After a brief phone call we grabbed a used induced draft fan, some smoke pipe and some other stuff and drove to his place and got it running. The trip took 2 hours but the gas furnace was running about 1/2 hour after we arrived.

Your comment about the challenge of fixing things is common in many men.

I learned at a young age to identify that characteristic in others. Those folks can be challenged to a repair others would never try! My wife had an uncle who was that way. I call it "red flag syndrome" (like getting a bull to move), and would approach him with a problem I wasn't sure about...."Bob, you probably can't fix this but would you tell me what I did wrong?" He'd literally take the item and do something right then and there. He and his brother owned a large machine shop and had several inventions. They could fix ANYTHING.
