My brother is in real estate in California. He sold a house to a couple for 425K.
They said that was all they could afford because they only made 150K (each)
per year. He asked them what they did for a living. They said they were paid
activists'.
(They were white)
This is what breaks down democracy. Paid Activist? That's a despicable ugly act to American Citizenry.

Everybody's life matters. But...

What they did was not just stupid, IMO, but illegal, and I expect they will have some time in jail to think about it. If convicted they will, if I remember correctly, lose their right to vote. Good. Not that being able to vote gets us as much as I'd like in terms of responsible, intelligent representation.

My soapbox (sorry everyone) is that there are too many guns in the hands of stupid, violent, and/or criminally insane people. If I had a job that put me in front of such folks day in and day out as the police are, I would have a hard time not being trigger happy. It is a very sad thing, and I think the Australian solution might be the best. Not perfect but better than the status quo here. :(

How's that for a gloomy Gus outlook?

I might not have the details straight, but gov't bought back guns some years ago, can't own them unless you have a reason, like station (ranch) folks can have them. Not sure about hunting shotguns and rifles. Gun deaths are way down, but not 0, as recent terrorist activity illustrated. I assume something similar in Canada.

Just wait. They will want a change of venue and will want a judge that will excuse them. Blame the folks that elected or appointed the judge. Yup, we are going to hell.

USA is about 10.9 per 100,000 people while Auzzland is like.86 per 100,000 really low huh,,, Now let even things up a bit, if we remove all the BIG cities that have the most stringent firearms regulation and laws from the equation, IE. New York City, Chicago (home of your prez), Washington DC and Los Angles and San Francisco all of which have a higher death by firearm incident rate than Auzzland. With those cities removed, all of which are by the most part gun-free zones to law abiding citizens, but not the bad guys and you find out that for the rest of the USA we rate some place around number 43 on the list.
Remember that the bad guys don't worry about the laws to begin with. And to be honest my Kubota has killed as many people as all of my firearms put together,, which accounts for 0. And if some young person or persons see fit to enter my domicile uninvited in the middle of the night, a .45 is much easier to even the sides with, than trying to run him down with my tractor,, Just MHO you understand

Can just imagine you trying to run someone down with your Kubota! Got a hay bale spear on the front? Seriously it isn't a simple problem and I hear your points. If guns and cars could only be issued to people with common sense it would be better. Sigh.

Had a chance to witness our glorious courts at work. Was in arguing a traffic ticket. Had the day off, so I figured I would be nosy and see what the cases were about. They ran a guy through the coals for shooting a dog that was going after his two year old. Guy was protecting his kid!!! This was after letting off some yahoo that had 20 Dls's, along with 15 dwi's. Judge sentenced him to 4 weekends in jail, a small fine. And the kicker was the dude could keep there hardship license.
Next was a guy that was driving a big rig high on heroin. Busted with a bunch of meth, coke, and a syringe of heroin. Judge said you lose your cdl, and get some counseling!!! Nothing else.
And with overcrowding in the prisons, they only have to serve 1/16 there sentence. So if those yahoos protesting have to serve a week in jail, chances are they will spend about 8 hours in a holding cell and be released. And be fed too!!!

The idiots reached in and let someone pour full of concrete, then let it harden. Other idiots took them and barrels to the road and dropped them off.

They were protesting the supposed racist "police brutality" and "police killing poor unarmed blacks". I believe they specifically sited the black boy with a realistic looking gun (modified to hide or remove the orange tip) who was shot for pointing it at the police as if he were going to shoot them. Oddly, they don't seem to feel the need to protest the 2 assassinated policemen, or any of the dozens of other policemen murdered from day to day.
Ah this is what I was wondering! Thanks for clarifying their cause!

I don't know how all of you feel about the court rulings that created all of this nonsense, but I support the police. Too many police officers get killed by scumbags for no reason. I come from a marine corps family where my older brother and father are both recon vets. A good 20 years ago... my brother was already a full time fire fighter and he had a chance to join the state police. My father begged and pleaded with him not to do it because too many get killed from nut jobs by just a routine traffic stops. These guys aren't afraid of much being recon marines but my father didn't want to see him get killed. My brother took his advice and is now a deputy chief, hazmat professional, and works constantly with the bomb squad. Here is a link to a good article just because I'm proud of him and I think you all will like.

These protesters act like michael brown was walking home from the library and officer wilson shot him in the back of the head for no reason. 99% of people of all races killed by cops did something to create that situation. If they surrendered without a fight they all would still be alive. You mess with a bull, you get the horns. And as my father always says.... You make your own bed and sleep in it. Why can't all of these fools that think cops are out to kill black people realize that? I hope that one day the protesters need a police officer's help and the cops take their sweet ass time getting to them.

Police in my area and all over my state do a hell of a job fighting a losing battle with the scum of the earth and have my upmost respect. Our town police even sponsor and coach a PAL youth basketball league and have done it for a very long time. Good people in my book to say the least.

I find it inconstant, these folks protest burning property that has no involvement in their situation, but they're brother was killed by a policeman and the policeman happened to be white.

What about a protest march for a couple of weeks when a black kills a white, or a black kills a black--an being a policeman doesn't matter?

They appear to be ignorant drifters. I doubt any of them took time off of work to protest!!

I think the protestors spend too much time with the bong and reefer to understand there cause  And these paid activists should be tarred and feathered and run out of town. Sounds like they support a cause as long as the moneys good.
I actually wonder about the parents of those protestors in boston. There has to be something fundamentally wrong with those peoples heads to actually stick there arm through a barrel after donning a diaper, and allowing someone to pour quick crete in it  It's apperent they really didn't think things through all that well. And they are damn lucky the commuters on the turn pike didn't take matters in there own hands. They wouldn't have faired to well in Little Rock if they pulled that stunt on the river bridge. They would have dragged them into the break down lane, and the commute would have been buisiness as usual, although a little slower due to the looky lou's  Thats if someone didn't smack the hell out of them first. I've seen people get dragged out of there cars and had the crap kicked out of them for causing an accident on the river bridge

Uncle Joe also said that it's not the number of votes that count but who counts the votes. Or similar words.

These guys are the dregs and remnants of the "occupy" movement, professional protesters, fine for blocking the highway is $ 50.00. They also caused ambulances to be diverted to other hospitals, not to mention the cost of their removal. Just shunt them to the side of the road, and put ip a signboard prior to the stunt, and have it say idiots ahead, have eggs ready to throw at them...:D
