Should I just get cans of spray paint from the dealership or are there really close matches that are cheaper from Rustoleum or Krylon?

I had the local NAPA (or was it Car Quest?) that sells automotive paint mix some up.

He did an outstanding job, it matches perfectly, but I had to buy their minimum of 1/2 gallon, so it was like 80 bucks or so.

The dealer wanted something stupid (like 21 dollars'ish) for a rattle can.

I buy spray cans of Chevrolet Orange engine paint. It is a perfect match for the Kubota Orange, unless your tractor has faded.

REAL paint is SO MUCH better than the quick-n-easy rattle cans,

Not all rattle can paints are created equally. The less expensive, the lesser the quality of the product inside the can. My local paint dealer will sell you a pint of mixed paint and put it into rattle cans for an additional $8 per can. A pint is usually 3 cans worth and a smidge more at the bottom of the can.

Agreed, but I think most refer to the off the shelf rattle can junk!

'Close Match' can be had with a number of Non-OEM paints.

IF you are 'touch up' painting you may wish to more closely match the current color of your tractor/implement (paint fade to be considered), than if painting an entire part.

Be aware that there are two Kubota Orange colors (New and Old).

With 'Old' being roughly 1989 and back.

Dealers up here want $50 for a spray can of paint. OP did not say whether it is the old or new Kubota orange, but I just take a small painted part from my tractor to a local automotive paint supplier where they will scan it. They then mix it up and put in a spray can. The last one I got (gray) was half the cost of dealer paint and just as good. In Canada Home Hardware carry both gallon cans and spray cans of the new Kubota orange.

My BX23S was purchased last year. Figuratively, anything which touches the ground (or fabricated) gets sprayed with Rustoleum Farm & Implement spray paint. All other gets factory.

Rustoleum orange was a dead match when I painted my loader bucket. Not something I would use on the hood..

Edit: had to check to be sure.

Rustoleum Kubota Orange Tractor and Implement paint.

Dont worry too much. What ever you do buy it wont match anyway. Its a tractor 🚜 🤣. Hard to get 900 dollars a gallon red to match a month after you buy it.
I have been using bobcat orange 🤣

I painted the orange part of this tractor with Ditch Witch paint I had setting around. I had it a few years before I sold it and no one ever made a comment about the color of the paint.

If you've never used an HVLP sprayer you don't know what you are missing out on. Far less overspray than rattlers and conventional sprayers. Rattle cans are handy for small touch-up but it requires multiple coats to equal a single coat from spray gun.

Other than at dealer it's hard to find blue or grey. Anyone found something close to new blue?
