I decided to mark things real clearly on our tractor for my wife and even for me so I just don't forget. For instance, for me, it is difficult to tell the difference between a 3/4" bolt and a 19MM bolt. Since all the Kubota fasteners are metric, I just marked each or by the area what it is, that way, if I need to know it is at the point of use.

Then, I put reminders for greasing the loader arms in plain sight like they do for oil changes on your car. I also put similar reminders by stuff that my wife may not know or remember, like the 3 point lowering speed. At every point of use, I made some indication of what is used or needed. I even marked the valve stems with 30 PSI. It's difficult to read tires upside down covered in mud or dust.

I wrote down the date of the oil change and next due on the engine oil filter.

Kind of overdoing it, I know but it does help SWMBO "She Who Must Be Obeyed," to find stuff and use the tractor.

I use my label maker in the same way. Usually on chainsaws and tools or anything with a small engine to let me know when the warranty may be up, oil type/weight and amount, spark plug gap, filter/part #s etc, so. I don't have to reference the manual to look it up. All the info I need is right there on the tool/machine. My name and/or initials are also engraved into everything I own.

I do the same thing it helps keep matinence up to date. I have done this same thing on my truck, water heater when to flush, you can never have to much help remembering things when it come to increasing the longevitiy of your equipment. I even set a reminder on our computer calender of all thing ( maintinence ) that need to be kept up on good job buddy.P.S the older ya get the more notes ya need

That's a great idea. I was helping a buddy of mine that has a few tractors and trucks and he used the label maker on tractor lights also. He would just put the bulb number on the outside of the light so if he had one out he would just pick up the bulb while in town. He also used it on filters and such. I haven't started doing it yet on mine, but I think I will.

It's not a bad idea by a long shot. When I got my jet lathe being new to one that was that big (last one was a sears craftsman 6x19 between centers) I went out in the garage with the manual and labeled everything in sight. Still haven't figured out how to set the clock on my '07 sierra, and my vcr. Frank
