Decided that it is time to get the new to me used BX2822 snowblower mounted, but it needed new shoes and a cutting edge on it. Ordered the parts from the local Kubota dealer and got the shoes installed along with the cutting edge only to find that one side of the new shoes is about 1/4" higher than the cutting edge, and there is no adjustment that will change that. Then I moved on to greasing the blower and couldn't get grease into one side of the auger. Took out the grease fitting, and it was clogged with metal at the bottom, so that told me that it was never greased on that side since the day it was built, assuming that they smear some grease onto the shaft prior to installing the auger. Then I tried to grease the bearing on the front of the rear gearbox which was a very tight fit to get to the grease nipple. Found that it was loose and decided to take it out to put a grease nipple cover onto it. Bad idea, because I had a heck of a difficult time getting it started into the tapped hole. An hour and a half later I finally succeeded. Moved onto the auger bearings at the outer ends of the snowblower, only to find that they were pointed down. Removed the bolts and swiveled them 180 degrees to the top so they are now accessible. Finally got that section of the project completed.
Next was the BX2810/BX2911 K Connect. That was a lot easier, and I learned that you cannot remove the short driveshaft without first extending the cylinder. I installed grease caps on most of those fittings and then mounted the K Connect to the tractor. Seems that it put on some weight since last year, or I am getting weaker. If all goes well, I should have the BX5447 drift cutters by the end of the week. Spent half of a day calling Kubota dealers within a 100-mile radius looking for someone that had them in stock. Finally found them in Maine.
