I don't know your system, but some systems can be checked with the key in the run position and turning the ac system on. You can verify clutch by applying (jumper wires) electronical power to the clutch. I would check the freon level first. Low or no freon will result in no clutch engagement.

CHECKED THE LOW & HIGH PORTS BY DEPRESSING TIRE LIKE VALVE STEMS - BOTH MADE HISSING SOUNDS. WOULD CONNECTING AN R134A FREON KIT WITH GUAGE WITH SYSTEM OFF CAUSE THE KIT GUAGE TO REGISTER IF FREON IN CHARGED ZONE (I.E. YELLOW ZONE, BLUE ZONE, ETC). Does one alligator clip hot wire to the jumper plug in on compressor to get the clutch to engage? Also the clutch plate has no resistance when turned -- could removing clutch plate and spacers and reinstall to get manual resistance results possibly solve clutch engagement issue? Thanks

Most likely it charge related. If you don't know how to work on an AC system CALL SOMEONE WHO DOES! You'll save money in the long run. Don't press on the TIRE LIKE VALVES AGAIN......... un-good for system.

I fully agree. It can't cost that much to get someone to look at it that knows air conditioning.

What's been "checked" so far proves nothing. In order to check something, you need to first know something about it.

this....

...is a GREAT way to require the purchase of a new PTO clutch !!!!
ALL electric PTO units have their clutches 'spaced' within 3-5 thou.

You can power the clutch coil with a jumper to +12 and should hear it 'clunk' when energized. As a reference a typical riding mower EPTO coil will draw about 4 amps of current when energized. Hopefully the WSM will say what yours draws. If not current, then resistance, like 3 ohms ,+ or -.
