M9540 Twisted

Bought a used M9540 that's twisted. Not sure what you call these mounting plates, but they appear to be the only bent parts.

Arms and everything else looks straight.

What do you call these mounting plates? Can I buy new ones from somewhere? Possible to bend these back straight?

Go there, click the illustrated parts button. Type in the loader model number (I think it might be LA1353 for your machine?).

Those mounts are probably expensive. I'd triple check that those are the only issues (or are truly the issue). Sometimes bent stuff can be deceiving.

Don't try to straighten them! Bending them has weakened the steel. Tell us more about the tractor. Hours, Price you paid etc. If you got it for a good price then even if you have to replace the entire loader (I sincerely doubt it!!) then it could be worth it.

I am a bit surprised those plates would be the only items to bend or even crack/compress....as mentioned check all other parts on that FEL.

I don't think they are bent. Might go look at another tractor before spending money and time/labor.

Following 'Cat's thought...I might try the loader removal process to see if the pins are free with a little down-pressure.

Just see if they turn in the bore freely.. nothing more right away....

Word of caution, if the loader or mounts are racked, trying to take it off could lead to some big-time movements when it releases! It could be a lot of steel moving really fast with a lot of force!

Could damage the cab, tractor, or somebody standing nearby!

good points. I seen a guy lose a finger in an instant trying to line up a bush hog top link pin. Stuck his finger in the hole to check alignment, it shifted and lopped that finger off instantly. I picked the remainder of the finger up and told him to take it to the ER with him. To this day that finger still hurts. But it ain't there. They call it ghost pains. This incident was about 9 years ago.

Is there an issue using the FEL or you just dont like the way it looks?

I wonder from the pictures if it got tipped over with the loader raised high. That might be enough leverage to twist the mounts.

Whatever happened and caused that damage, I'm certain it got the operator's attention!

It looks to me like those plates are a welded component the sub frame. Probably not available separately.

Now while it is true that bending steel back and forth weakens it somewhat, everything is relative and those didn't get bent very far or very often. I would take the sub-frame to a welding shop, have them straightened and perhaps gussets welded on to reinforce the plates to prevent this from happening again.

And yes, check the rest of the machine for other damage. It took a lot of force to bend those!
