I have an m9540. I took the radiator and hydraulic cooler off to have them pressure checked. Now my brakes are almost non existent. I have to pump the right pedal three times to get a little pedal to slow it down and the left will not even pump up at all. I tried bleeding the air out and got some out. After air stopped coming out the fluid was darker than the original fluid coming out. The pedal was still as described. Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. Also the cooler checked out as in good shape at the radiator repair shop. Unfortunately it does have a small leak. Where is the best place to find a cooler core? I have an account but Can’ can’t remember how I set it up. Thanks

I've had to replace a couple master cylinders on those. Early ones. Seems like the later ones were mostly problem-free aside from owner-induced issues.

bleeding is easy start engine, walk back to the bleeder and loosen it until all the air comes out. I usually like to put some teflon tape on the bleeder screw threads; as sometimes air gets pulled in around the threads and makes you think it's air coming out of the system when in fact it's not IN the system, just air around the threads. Some folks pump the brakes while bleeding and it's not necessary.

How do youif the master cylinder is bad? With automobile brakes you can keep a light pressure on the pedal and it will creep down if the fluid is leaking back past the master cylinder washers. Done mechanic work on many things in my life but this set up is a new beat for me.

If anyone has had experience with the master cylinders on these tractors I would appreciate your input on how to tell if the master cylinder is bad. The right pedal will pump a couple of times and have a little pedal so I can get it to stop if I have enough time to pump. In my experience with automobile breaks it seems if the master cylinder is bad it light constant pressure. I have not been able to find anyone locally except the dealership that will work on it and I can’t afford that trip. Thanks
