Hello,
New to the forum. I own a M9000 with front loader, 1600 hours.
A now the clutch seems slipping. I seem to have no power, can only drive in low gears and not in deep snow.
How this happened. After a whole day of clearing snow and getting logs out of the deep snow with the front loader I drove into a ditch in the dark. I went through the ice and was completely stuck in the mud. Had to wait until the morning for a Skidder to pull me out. No problem before this happened. Immediately after no power and seemed to have a slipping clutch. All the rods that go from clutch pedals to the gearbox seem ok. Frontloader and PTO seem to work ok.
Any ideas on how to fix this. The tractor is located in a remote location and probably will have to fix it in the cold a snow...
Thanks,

It is possible your clutch is out of adjustment but it's also possible it got wet from its "bath". Depress the clutch pedal and find a way to hold it down when not using the tractor. This will prevent the parts from freezing together. It may be fine after it dries out.

There is a plug in the bottom of the Clutch housing that you remove to allow it to drain any water out.
It might have a little residual Hydraulic fluid in there (front propeller shaft seal leak), open the plug and let it drain.
Then using a long straw or tube spray some WD40 into the hole.
and when you pull the plug fire it up and let it just sit there and Idle this will help heat and dry it out.

Thank you a lot for these advises.
So if I am reading this correct, it could be water in the clutch that is normally dry? So when I open up the plug there will be only water coming out and not a lot of hydraulic fluid?

Thanks for your reply.
Do I adjust it by making sure there is some free play at the top ie. have to depress it a bit before it uncouples the clutch?

How much “free play” do you have in the clutch pedal? I.E.: There should be about 1/2”-1” of free movement of the pedal before the throw-out-bearing makes contact with the pressure-plate fingers.
For example, in the illustration below, it shows the “free play” distance of “A” to be between 1.4” and 1.8”.

If you’ve been driving in deep snow or otherwise bent the control rods they may already have the clutch partially engaged…(don’t know if the M9000 has clutch-rods exposed in such manner, however.)

Yes only water, there might be some ( slight amount ) hydraulic fluid if the seals for the propeller shaft are bad.
