M8560 Injector Pump

[First Time Poster]

Longtime reader, first time poster. Have an m8560 with 2700 hours that will suddenly rev way up (like 2600 rpm or more) without moving throttle. After 15 seconds or so, it will return to normal. It has also suddenly died a couple times. I replaced the fuel filter, cleaned separator, and blew out fuel cap with no change.

A couple of people have suggested that it is the injector pump causing the problem. So, do you guys agree with That? And if so, is it a pretty involved project if I decided to replace with a new pump? Do I need to worry about the timing or is that only involved if you are taking the pump apart? As you can probably guess I'm not exactly Mr. Goodwrench and am willing to bring it to a local diesel shop. But don't want to spend extra money if I don't have to.

You have a common rail fuel injection system. The injectors are operated via electric solenoids on each injector. Engine rpm is a function of how fast the injectors are activated. The ECU sends the power to activate the injectors. The throttle lever is actually a potentiometer sending position information to the ECU. You're going to need your Kubota dealer to diagnose, Highly likely the pump is not your problem. I would think it more likely to be a problem with the throttle pot or wiring between it and the ECU. That is just my guess. If it were mine I might take a look at that for obvious problems like mice chewed wiring but beyond that the dealer would be involved.

Ditto on what Dustyx2 said.
This is not something that you can take to the local diesel shop, it a dealer only job to do anything with the fuel injection system on that tractor.
Computer controlled common rail systems require programing if any part is changed, and only a dealer can do that.
And Like Dustyx2 said, that tractor doesn't have an injection pump like older models.

A couple of years back my neighbor's M8560 that got water in fuel tank then the water grew a fungus. Kubota dealer replaced common rail pump & injectors. Common rail fuel system isn't as forgiving to foreign things in fuel system as older technology fuel systems.
