I can't say I ever looked but unless K&N says their filters are for off road use only or a statement to that affect then they would at least have to meet OEM specs.
All it says is it doesn't void the factory warrantee. And they don't claim to filter better, they just say they filter excellent.;) The lawyers figured all of this out long ago.

One bad side effct of K N is the oil that is in the filter. On gas engines that use a MAF, mass air flow, sensor, the oil gets on the small hot wire in the maf and makes any dust stick to it. This cause a change in its resistance and the computer changes the fuel to match. Causes it to use more fuel.
I have 3 filters in the shop that I took out of vehicles. It is amazing to me that the engines were even running, there was ssoooo much dust and dirt in them. One was a K N. I did not reuse it.

Yep, they can cause problems with the MAF. Part of the problem with a K&N is the person doing the cleaning and oiling, that can get really screwed up and pass dirt. When I clean mine, I always rinse them out from the clean side, pushing the dirt back out the way it came in, otherwise you may have dirt particles sitting there on the clean side just waiting to get sucked in the engine. A good even coat of oil is essential to it working as well.

Back on topic, BD, have you measured the clean air filter to see if one of those matched?

Not yet, been spending all my extra time in the pasture running fence. We have been going down there in the mornings after the kids go to school and come back out about 1 or 1:30 to have enough time to dry off a little so we can pick Shelby up and then we go back down and do more fence at about 6:30 or so after the sun gets down past the trees some and stay till we can't see to do any more. I'm so sore I can't hardly move. I'm cut up, brused up, got cow itch up both arms and been cracked in the head 2 times by tree limbs. All I can say for sure is that I hate barb wire not only for the pain of installation but the expence as well. I added up what I have spent to this point and I have over $500 in it. When I started this project I never planned on spending that much money. It's been so long since I needed any wire or posts for anything I had no idea it was that high now. After spending all that I couldn't afford to hire help to try and get it finished.

I haven't even looked at that air filter.

We probably ran about 400 foot for free though, just look at the bright side of it.:D It will be useful for you for many years to come too, just don't get another Limmy bull that will tear it up. You got gates up now too.

Speaking of cow itch, when I was up there last time I touched that vine on that big tree we went around, I don't know what that was, but it sure made a mess of my arm. It oozed nasty stuff for about ten days.

After seeing the cost of wire that section of fence would have cost about $80 in wire plus the post. I'm glad the gates were already here. I hope I never get another bull like that last one I had. He was about like trying to fence in a freight train.

That sounds like cow itch on your arm. I hate that stuff. I already had some the last time you were here and have only added more to mine since then. Still itching and don't know when it will stop.
