Hi

I'm a new member and this is my first post. I'm replacing the clutch in a M7500DT. I bought a aftermarket clutch part number 35555-25100. This tractor has a pto clutch disc that goes up against the flywheel and is operated by a hand lever. The transmission clutch disc is captive in the pressure plate. The problem I have is, the back of the clutch finger that releases the transmission clutch are only about 1/8"-3/16" away from the clutch disc. They seem way too close to the disc for proper disengagement without hitting the disc. If anyone has experience with this clutch or knows the adjustment specs and procedure, I would appreciate any information. I'm not comfortable putting the tractor back together this way. The vender I bought it from insists that it will work, but I would like to verify the finger height before I put it back together. It looks like this clutch was used on multiple M series tractors in the early 80's.

Thank You
Christian

Is that with the pressure plate bolted down to the flywheel?

Trying to see if someone has the WSM for it as I don't have that one.
If I can get a copy, I'll be able to tell you how to measure and set it. ;)

Thank you for the reply. The picture of it is bolted to the flywheel. Since the transmission disc is captive in the pressure plate, the fingers don't change position whether it's bolted down or not. I do have a WSM that shows only the older style clutch, there was a serial number break and this clutch is the newer style that is supposed to be interchangeable.

The manual I have includes the M7500, dated Jan 1983, code no. 07909-70309-0. The clutch section is pages S.1-1 to S.1-4. Is that the same manual you have? Extract from page S.1-4 attached. There's no mention of a superseded/superseding clutch.

cmeyer,
There will not be any change from one clutch setup or the other as far as measurements, and they are the measured the same way. ;)

The manual I have shows the same information that you posted.

I figured the dimensions should be the same otherwise the release bearings would not work properly.

Today I put the pressure plate and captive disc on the transmission input shaft and slid it all the way back. I measured from where the pressure plate would mount to the flywheel and it protrudes from the bellhousing 3/4". Then I measured from the step in the flywheel to the bellhousing and it is recessed 11/16". So I see no way this clutch will work without being bound up. I think my only option at this point is to return the clutch I bought and find someone to rebuild the one that came out of the tractor. Even though the original clutch supersedes to this new number, I can't figure out how it's supposed to work. I appreciate you guys taking the time to help me.

Going by the parts diagram nothing else seems to have been superseded that might be necessary with your new clutch. Before having the old one rebuild, just to be totally confident, I'd try reinstalling the old clutch assembly and checking that the same problem doesn't occur with it. If the old one now has the same problem, there's a vital clue... :D
