Have any of you m60 series owners had any experience with your tractor popping out of gear? Mine is a 20 M7060. It pops out, from time to time, of 2nd gear only. It has popped out both forward and reverse, under load and not. Any idea what to check? The tractor has 130ish hours and is the 8 speed.

Look at your linkages for anything that might be causing them to fail to push the transmission fully into gear. Sticks, hay, grass, whatever. If that's all clean, it needs to go back to dealer.

I second checking the linkages. You can find a free WSM online, there are the measurements and how to set up the linkages. It can be a bit of a finaky thing to do. One linkage may just need to be made a 1/2 turn longer. Hopefully that’s all it is!
I recently replaced the rubber boot down there that covers the shift rod….. the new one is so stiff in the cold it can be hard to make shifts sometimes….

Have you tried it in 6th gear? Chances are it will do the same if it’s a linkage problem because it’s the same gear-set.
If it’s not linkage, then it’s going to be internal to the transmission and will likely lead to a shift-fork/ball problem.
Here’s the WSM Troubleshooting section for my M (4700DT) which should be the same/similar transmission:

Thank you all.. no, I have not tried it in 6th gear, but will this weekend. It is pretty violent when it pops out under load.. I will check all the linkages. I will also download a WSM and check the specs. I hope that is the cause.. if not, it is still under warranty. Thanks to all.

If its under warranty I would not touch it . Don't give the dealer a reason for thinking you potentially messed things up perhaps voiding the warranty.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! If you mess with that linkage… (and they’ll know because a wrench or other tool will mark the paint on it)… they will have good grounds to say YOU MODIFIED the tractor from OEM and caused the problem.

Under warranty…?? Call them and ask them how soon they can get it repaired and back on your place.

thankfully. I found the problem. One of my hydraulic lines, I believe from my third function, loosened and turned down in front of the linkage. I turned it back up and tightened the fitting, and put a zip tie to hold the line up in case it loosens again. Alls well now.
