Was on hill side and started to roll back and popped clutch a little and then it would not show Neutral or go in reverse. Rolled back to level ground and tried shifting but would only go forward, not reverse and would not show “N” on

shifter. Turned off and instrument panel works but still won’t show “N” to start up.
Search Google and seems to sound like the Neutral Safety Switch may have activated. Is there a simple reset and can someone show location. All I could find was “behind engine, near shift linkage”. I took panel off but can’t locate anything that looks like a plunger switch.

Need more info on your tractor.
Describe the type of shuttle shift you have.
There are many models and not all have the same clutch/ shuttle arrangement

Sorry Dave it’s a M7060HD 4WD ROPS 8-speed.

Doing alittle more diagnostics on my own and the battery is coming up at 11.70 volts resting. That’s low/bad. Would that affect the shuttle shift or starter?

I don’t know exactly what you are showing in that picture but what is this thing that the red arrow is pointing to? It doesn’t look right for the pin to be falling out (as I see the picture).

Have you looked at the bottom end (yellow) of the shuttle cable?

If the battery is measuring 11.7 at rest its days are over assuming the charging system is OK.
Take the battery out and have it tested as it is the easiest step for now.

pulled battery and had it tested at NAPA. Despite what my multimeter said, the battery tested fine at parts store. 12.74V / nearly 1100 CCA.

I’m running out of ideas, dealer might need to diagnos.

I’m convinced its some sort of safety switch. But I just don’t have the knowledge to look for that. Bummer, because I love this tractor but I have had some issues with it. Luck of the draw I suppose.

The switch is here, first thing to do is check wiring, hear a lot of times a stick or something just pulls the connectors apart.
Do you have the WSM (aka service manual) , it should tell you have to test the switch.

What caused you to roll back on the hillside initially? Did something happen to the tractor that caused it to happen? If so, that would give a clue as to what is going on.

Just following up in case others have similar problem. Tractor was taken to dealer and diagnosed / fixed in about an hour. Somehow the shuttle cable running to the shuttle valve, the pin came out. Replace shuttle cable pin and back in service. $10 in parts and $180 in labor/transport.

Live and learn. Hope this may help others with similar problem. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Glad to hear it was simple and easy fix.
