My 2004 M7040DT won't shift. it doesn't have a hyd shuttle you have to use the foot clutch. I took the shifter cable off and it seems fairly hard for it to operate but even if I shift it manually under the tractor it still won't go into gear. I was wondering if any of you have had the same issue.

When you state "removed cable" I presume you're referring to your mechanical shuttle not shifting.? If that's correct many yrs ago I had a similar situation with a M4900DT only it was stuck in reverse. I had to have manual shuttle assembly replaced.
TX Jim yes I have manual shift its the cable that goes from the lever to the mechanism on the transmission
