Hello all i am new here. this looks like a great place for kubota owners to share info & advise. I have a 2002 M6800DT,mechanical shuttle, loader, 1150 hours when i shift shuttle to fwd or rev now i get some gear grinding, tractor also jumps a little when shifted at idle, i have checked, trans oil level(ok),clutch free play & linkage(ok).shuttle linkage(ok). any advise as to what problem might be would be appreciated my dealer is over 90 miles away.

Yours is a lot bigger tractor than mine, but a wild guess on my part is that the clutch is not fully dis-engaging when the pedal is pressed. Some tractors have a grease zert on the clutch yoke where is slides on the transmission shaft that if not greased could cause the problems you are having. Maybe someone with more knowledge can give you advice. Good luck!

my dealers service mgr returned my call today. he says it sounds like the syncronizer on the fwd rev shuttle is bad. has anyone else experienced this?

Sounds right to me, syncros usally last longer than 1150 hrs though. you are using the clutch when you shift it I hope!

i thought 1150 was way too soon also. i do use the clutch when i shift, and have serviced tractor often, changed hydro oil 3 times, filters regularly, i do a lot of clean up with it so it is shifted more than normal but i am the only operator. i have two other older tractors that i have rebuilt the engines on, put in clutches ect but never touched the transmission on either one. things just aint built like they use to be are they.

Okay now I'm confused (which is nothing new). I have an L3240 with shuttle shift and I thought you were supposed to be able to go from forward to reverse without the clutch? Am I doing damage by not using the clutch?

You have a hydraulic shuttle, JW54 has a mechanical one. You can ( and should) shift your shuttle without using the clutch.

Sounds like a clutch problem. It isnt disengaging properly. Not a lot you can do until you split it and check it out
