I was bush hogging sunday, came in and parked tractor. Monday I went to crank it and all the dash lights came on but wouldn't crank. I checked all the norms to make sure it should crank, like pto, in neutral. Everything was where it should be. I crossed over the starter and it cranked. But now here is my problem, it will not move. Pull it into reverse and it tries to move, about an inch or so and that is it. Same as putting it in foward. I believe my cranking problem and moving problem are related. Thanks for any help or advice.

So it bogs down and dies when you try to move it or it just stays at RPM and doesnt go anywhere?

First off terminology: Running and cranking are two different things. Cranking means the engine turns over but does not mean it is running when starter is disengaged.

Secondly it would help if we had more details about the tractor itself. Year, shuttle shift or not etc.

Have you checked the condition and level of the hydraulic fluid?

Have you checked and tested any safety switches?

These are the areas I would start with and please guys, give as much detail as possible if you expect any kind of diagnostics over the internet!!

My tractor did that one time and I found that it wasn't in gear. I bumped the gearshift while I was dancing around on the platform a d must have bumped it. I moved the shuttle lever and the tractor would move enough so you could feel it but nothing more.

So after spending about all day tracing wires and safety switches I fixed it. I removed the rubber floor mat and under the left foot floor board I found a switch with only 1 wire that I could see. Finally located the other wire in a harness that had fell out and loose from safety switch. Sorry don't know which switch it is or what it is called but it fixed the cranking and moving problem. Thanks kubota peeps for the help..

I've owned the next larger size larger M7040 for 10 yrs. It's a '11 model & shuttle/trans has no electronic controls IE trans/hyd shuttle is manually controlled
