Long story short, my cable that controls the remote got broken. I ordered a new cable. But when I went to replace it, I'm not real sure how to get the cable loose at the remote end. Do you just pry it off or what? I didn't want to get too rough with it and cause me more trouble. I thought some of you folks might know the best way. Thanks in advanced.

Originally that should have had a pin with a hair pin though it, and it looks like someone has replaced it with a bolt, look on the bottom, if there is a nut take the bolt out to remove it.

Here is a picture that Wolfman is referring to showing the spring pins.
Yours looks like a good soak with a release oil would help as it has obviously been modified. If you are using a bolt and nut with the new cable, find a way to avoid tightening the nut so much that it is exerting a clamping force on the end of the cable. The cable has to be free to pivot.

Y'all nailed it. I found that the split pin was broken off even on both sides of the stud just about flush. I bumped it with my grinder to make it smooth and it came off. I guess the way its rusted made it look kind of mushroom shaped to me. Which is why I couldn't see how to get it off. But it wasn't. Not sure how/if I'm gonna drive out the rest of the split pin, but either way, I can change out the cable. Thanks again y'all.
