So I talked to two different dealerships when ordering my tractor and the both talked me into a flat bottom double arm grapple. well I don't like it I want more of a Root Rake grapple, so I talked to them and theyre willing to take it back/exchange for something id like. So my concern is I love https://www.rootgrapple.com/product/extreme-grapple-rake/ this style, but um scared it weighing 950lbs will take away from lifting logs for sawmill(priority). So should I go smaller width 60" or go to a standard and not extreme grapple, or both?? Thanks

If your going to use it for just lifting logs to a sawmill and not tearing trees out of the ground, small and lighter will work perfectly fine! ;)

The 950 pounds seams to be pretty heavy for your tractor. Everything Attachments has one for compact/utility tractorshttps://www.everythingattachments.com/Root-Grapple-For-Larger-Compact-Utility-Tractors-p/eta-mcurg.htm. At 665 pounds it lightens the load.

950/2326= 41% of the lifting capacity at the bucket center payload of 1376 pounds

665/2326= 29% of the lifting capacity at the bucket center payload of 1676 pounds

A 12 foot long 18 inch diameter oak log equals 1356 pounds.

Looking at the grapple you are looking at it appears to be to heavy for the tractor. I do not think you would be able to dig very well with it either, as it is a light weight utility tractor.

Just curious where you are getting the 2326 number from if you don't mind me asking. Thanks

It will be used for a lot more than that, but ideally it will be used a lot to load logs, we also have a lot of land to take care of as well. But We also have a set of forks for a heavy log, just wanted to get an idea of what everyone was lifting with.

I have read great things about the wicked, but I wish I could find one 72" as I have R4 tires and is extremely wide, so id prefer the outside tines matchup to the tires, but I don't know I really do like all of the positives from the wicked grapple. any one have experience with the EA XTreme Root Rake Grapple

I googled the brochure for the Kubota M5660 and looked at the lift at the center of the bucket line.

I was thinking that you said it was to be used mostly for logging and it would be better to have the extra lifting capacity. The one you were showing was looking like it was more for digging. That said it looked like it would take a good deal of weight and traction to work with it. Those nine teeth would be tough to push into the soil. Were as the lighter unit would mean the tractor would not have to work at it's maximum all the time.

Thanks for the response, Yeah Im definitely looking for a bucket that can do a little of both, but the one that I got, I feel I won't be happy with either https://cidattachments.com/product/standard-duty-root-grapple this is the original one I purchased, feel this one would be impossible to dig at all and don't like the way it would have to go around logs either.

Unlike a bucket or other implements you are typically picking up stuff that is wider than your tractor so width is not as critical. That said the EA Xtreme comes in a 72" version in any case

I have the Wicked 55 and so far it is great, I haven't pushed it too much yet but this spring we will have big plans!
