M4900 rops pins won’t come out

New guy here. Just got a 2000 M4900. Trying to get the rops down so I can get it in the garage. Pins won’t budge Can anyone give me a trick for this? Thanks

Lub oil - vise grips and rock the ROPS back and forth a bit.

See any rust? If so, lube, heat, beat, lube and rattle. Then chase the treads with a tap (metric I suspect) and replace the pins.

So are these pins threaded? I just have slick pins in my Massey.

Not sure about yours but my 2501 is/was threaded.


I made some SS pins that slide in now.

You should be able to look at the end of the pin and determine if it is threaded or not.

Well the more modern tractors are. Not sure about yours since you’re asking. On my tractors the nut is welded to the face of the tube that the ROPS is made of.

Praise the Lord got the pins out. The cold weather must have contracted the pins just enough to be beat out. Two licks with an eight pound and the a drift pin and shop hammer. Thanks guys.
