Further my previous thread: low compression and leakage past rings on one cylinder
Cylinder 6 bad leakdown test results, worn/broken rings in that cylinder, with carbon build up and blow-by. Tractor not worth reconditioning so I have decided to keep running until it gives up.
Question: is it worth decarbonizing the engine or leave it alone and run it? If it has stuck rings (to the piston) from carbonizing and causing the blow-by could it free them up somewhat. If it has broken rings I wonder will doing this will shorten its life even quicker. Previous owner didn’t change oil. I have now put in a good quality Penrite 15w 40 mineral in it. Would a synthetic be better to use and would this help free the rings over time if they were stuck, or am I grasping at straws?
