M4 Accumulator

Hello:

I want to put an accumulator on my M$ three-point hitch. I travel down highways with a snowblower, and it bounces so badly at higher speeds. I was told that an accumulator would do the trick. Kubota doesn't make one for the M4. They have them in Canada for the Grand L as standard equipment on the NRODIC edition snow removal packages. I live close enough to Cananda to go get one. I just called the dealer in Thunderbay and he can get one in 10 days for me. I don't want to spend $800 USD on one and it doesn't work.

Anyone know if I can make one of the NORDIC edition accumulators work on a M4? Anyone use an aftermarket nitrogen pre-charged accumulator? Any other ideas?

maybe chain the snowblower so it doesn't move when travelling down the highway ??
depending on the weight of the blower, speed ,etc. some 'stout' bungee cords might work for you ??

I do not know your tractor.
3 pt hitches are different than loaders in that in addition to the usual relief valve they have a safety valve whose purpose is to limit shock loads while travelling.
If the blower is not lowering during these bounces I would suggest you try altering rear tire pressures.

Bungees won't do the job.

I too want an accumulator but for my FEL. Relatively easy for me to add on with exposed hydraulic lines and fittings. You would need to take a close look at the kit and your machine's components to figure out if you can make it work.

Dave_eng might be on the money in your case. I think an accumulator on my FEL will resolve a lot of hop when using my 3PH attachments. Less of an issue with the BH on.

No first hand experience but I don’t see where it wouldn’t work. It wouldn’t have to be that big due to the small volume of oil.

Bought a NOS kubota soft ride accumulator system off eBay. Modified to fit my M59 FEL loader using two accumulators. Greatly reduces shock loads when moving materials. Simple ball valve to turn on or off. Precharged Bosch accumulators. Two pressures.

Where to tap in on your 3pt hydraulic circuit not obvious to me.

Some have simply put an accumulator on a hydraulic top link.

I continue to ponder this question since my initial reply re tire issues as possible culprit.
The 3 pt hitch is so different than a loader. As stated before it has a safety valve in addition to the relief valve.
If an accumulator is introduced into the hydraulic circuit and thus movement of the 3 pt can occur, I would expect the feedback rod would be constantly fighting the movement permitted by the accumulator.

Some large tractors do have accumulator option on 3pt. Works only in transport or also in draft mode I don’t know.

If buying a new tractor and accumulators were an option I would definitely add. Not only improves ride but also protects components from the shock wear.

Found a single McCormick loader bulb accumulator on eBay wanting to install on the B26 loader.

M59 accumulator.

curious.. does that machine have power down on the 3PH ? Most don't, so plumbing an accumulator would be tricky, perhaps access to the hose going to the cylinder ?
still thinking mechanically securing the blower is an easy,workable option.

I have the accumulator on mymloader and it helps with bounce/shocks on the road. I also have a 3pt snowblower and it causes lots of bouncing st highway speed, so i avoid it now. Id think the accumulator would help. I wouldnt deal with T Bay. Not much for farm tractors in that area. Not far west, call Steinbach MB. They will know tractors better.
