I have a m135x, we brought it to the dealer as the shift was very abrupt, the clutch would jump suddenly... they did a bunch of tests and came up with the factor of it needing to be spilt and the clutches redone. They said it needed an update in the trans, quoted me around $15k to complete this task.

Has anyone heard of this? I cant find anything on the internet about a trans update... some advice would be greatful. Thanks

How many hours? Is it a hydraulic shuttle or something else? If it's a hydraulic shuttle with low hours, the lockup adjustment pressure is external on the side of the transmission case. I would strongly suggest you invest in a WSM (Workshop Manual) is it will call out the proper lockup pressure and the necessary tools for adjusting it. The abrupt 'clutch' feeling is controlled by a modulating valve in the assembly (if it is a hydraulic shuttle).

Need more information, obviously.

The unit has 1045hrs, is a 2010. Power shift trans, The dealer has the unit and has told me the problem is internal... not sure what to beleive. I guess the clutch is elecrtic over hyraudlic
Does this seem right? Thanks

All I can say is for 15 grand, I'd get a second opinion.

Both my M9's exhibit the same thing but only when shuttling under load because the proportioning valve 'senses' the applied load and adjusts the lockup pressure accordingly. Again both mine only exhibit abrupt lockup when loaded heavily. I don't have clutches in the pure sense of the word in my M9's. They have damper plates in the bell housing that reduce imparted shock loads to the the crankshaft, but no 'clutch'. 'Clutching' is done with the hydraulic multi plate wet clutch in the transmission case and the actuation is controlled by an external valve body on the side of the transmission case. why I asked you if it was a hydraulic shuttle or not.

Main reason why I have them. I don't want a dry clutch for ag work because of the lifespan.

You really need a workshop manual so you can determine lockup pressures and pack modulation, both of which are adjustable on my tractors and I'd say for 15 grand, the cost of the WSM is inconsequential.

I could tell you what mine are but I would think yours would be different values than mine and you need a pressure gauge and fittings to access the pressure ports anyway.

This unit is used for snow, so there is never a load on the trans well shifting gears, the sudden engagment of the clutch is when switching from forwArd into reverse and so forth. Well hitting the ***8220;+***8221; on the range selector and would be in your m105x it is a hard engagment. I was tole from the dealer my 108 and 135 have the same type of trans. I would imagine your 105 would aswell. H L. 16x16. My 108 works flawlessly

I will be ordering a WSM tomorrow

It is not an upgrade, more the fact that quite a few of them were assembled with the wrong plate combination in the low clutch of the power shift. this causes them to fail prematurely. There was a campaign on this but it might be expired on your tractor. There also was a campaign on the PTO clutch on those models. If they are disassembling the tractor anyway you should look into having that campaign done. I think Kubota are still picking up the cost of the parts. If your tractor is below sn 52470 it would have 8 year warranty on the HI/Low clutch pack in the powershift vs the conventional 4 years Kubota allow the dealer 25 hrs to do this repair. Service bulletin number is AGO48-17 Service bulletin number for the PTO is AG006-17 rev1 . I think you will be too late to get Kubota to help with the PTO

Before they dissasemble that tractor have them do a complete calibration following the service manual. ( don't skip anything!!) You can do it yourself if you have a service manual. ( A very good investment, better than any insurance you can buy!!)

What was the end result.....I have a 2012 m135x that keeps popping out of high gear when you go to engage it.
