LX4020 w/ Versa Turf’s

I searched and can’t find an answer to this so any help is appreciated.
I got a barely used LX4020 Cab and want to get the Carlisle Versa Turfs for it but am confused as you can be on which ones work with the LX4020? I have R4’s on it now.
The fronts are 23x8.50-12 and the rears are 14-7.5.

I would consider other options like Galaxy Pro’s also.

Your confused because your trying to put GOLF CART tires on a TRACTOR!

The fronts are 23x8.50-12 and the rears are 14-7.5.

And the rears are 14-17.5, that may be adding to your confusion, as they are not go cart tires either!

Your confused because your trying to put GOLF CART tires on a TRACTOR!

Carlisle makes a Versa-turf tire and Galaxy makes a Garden Pro for tractors. Both are radial tires similar to the Goodyer R14.

If I had a choice between the 3 brands I would buy Galaxy.

Alternately Galaxy Mighty Mow bias ply R3 tires are pretty good. I have them on a 4310 John Deere and they have been great tires for me.

I haven't researched sizes to see if any are interchangeable but Kubota offers the Goodyears as an option. You should be able to get the sizes from the owners manual.

For what it's worth.... I have R14's on a B2601, and they have been a great all around tire for my uses (in the woods, snow, lawn).
When buying my LX4020 I wanted the large size R14's, but the dealer didn't have them at that time. They offered me the lager size of the new Trackloader 2 R4 tires (the new ones with the 'K' logo molded into them), for the standard price of the base size R4 tire. This was about a $800 value, so I went for it.
So far I can say that these new style R4's haven't disappointed me, based on about 13 months and 70 hours of use.

Hey thanks for the thoughtful response. I live in the front range of Colorado and I don’t use my tractor in a field or woods. It’s wide open. I’m using it for snow removal and landscaping and grading a long large gravel road. So I’m concerned about tearing up the landscaping and good traction for snow. A versa turf type tire is likely the best option for this situation from my research. I checked last night and my wheel size on the rear is 17.5x10.5. I’m just not clear how to find the correct tire size that will fit the rear’s that’s what I was hoping to get some help on.

The different type tires are sometimes listed in different size wheels. According to the specs listed online your tractor should have 12.4-16 on the rear with R4s. The closest thing to the Versa-Turf offered by Kubota is the Goodyear R14.

Kubota lists the R14 for the LX4020 in sizes 23x850x12 on the front and 14-17.5 on the rear.

To be honest I think you are wasting your time and money changing the tires for your conditions. However my experience is restricted to dirt and turf. We don't get snow where I live. I have read the turf or R14 design has somewhat better traction in the snow. I have a 15,000 lb backhoe with R4s on it and an LX3310 with the R14s. Neither is any kinder or damaging when traveling in a straight line. Both will tear up the ground in short turns.

Well it’s a tough one because I was simply hoping someone could answer my question about how the tire sizing to wheel sizing works. You are correct that your situation is different as here we have snow and the other big driver is the type of landscaping and turf we have. It’s a warm season grass that is much more sensitive to being driven on vs something like Kentucky bluegrass. I’m not wasting my time and it’s my money! Just fyi the versa turfs aren’t that much money and much less than a r14 from Kubota!

so if someone wouldn’t mind helping me understand how to get the galaxy garden pro’s or versa turfs to work that would be appreciated. If I can’t then I’m going to go with strait turf tires.

Related to tires, especially on the LX4020... (or my opinion anyways)!
The R14's on my B2601 can F' up the lawn if I'm reckless, just as well as the R4's on my LX4020 can. What I find though, is usually I can hear the B2601 bog/groan a little before it's going to spin a tire.
The LX4020 doesn't drop 10 RPM before it'll spin a tire though! *Not saying it's the most powerful tractor ever or anything stupid like that, but it has a decent amount of power in a small / light tractor.
With that said, I found that dialing in the rear tire pressure was hugely important, as is keeping weight on the back. I'm currently at 10 PSI in the rear (will probably sneak a couple/few more PSI out), in addition to playing with the PSI I always have something on the back (for traction as much as for ballast). Either the Woodland Mills WC68 (about 750lbs), the stump grinder (about 450lbs), or the most often the box scraper with weights ( around 775-800lbs total). I use it on the grass often, with weight and restraint on the peddle it doesn't 'have' to tear up the lawn. *Pics are from today,

I have the same warm season grasses you do where I live in northern NM. The R4s don’t tear up the grass as long as you don’t drive in muddy conditions and they are a lot stronger for loader work and more puncture proof than turf tires. I plow snow with them no problem, but if I needed more traction, I would just get some tire chains. What you have now is far better than turf tires.
