We use Motorola biz-band radio on the property. Looking for advice on the best mounting location in a LX2610 cabbed tractor. Not much space for extras. I could mount it on the righthand side of the instrument panel. Searching for how to remove the hood over the instruments to reinforce the plastic for mounting a radio bracket on the side above the treadle pedal.

Any suggestions?

Welcome aboard!

Assuming there's some similarity in the Kubota design, it shouldn't be too difficult. I had the big gray shroud off to install a couple switches on my L4240. IIRC there were 3 exposed bolts to remove, then it was a matter of getting the steering wheel and a lever or two in positions that made it easier. There was some metal framing under the shroud that might be helpful as a starting point to add bracing.

A picture of the radio would help. Can you mount it in the opening for the radio? Or below the radio as that would give access. Do you have to see the radio? Maybe under the seat(as that is wasted space IMO).

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

I have a car radio in the radio slot on the overhead providing radio and bluetooth for phone etc.

The form-factor of Motorola radio is like a typical larger CB - Radio with a bracket. The speaker is front facing. Although I seldomly need to need to change channels etc, it is nice to have the speaker (and volume control) facing me. It will be mounted on the right side of the of the instrument hood.

I did find the three screws holding the instrument hood - Top center, bottom left and bottom right (as seen from the seat). It actually is easy to loosen up. You may need to remove the steering wheel to completely remove the hood. However, by removing the 3 screws I can gain enough access to place a brace on the backside for the radio bracket.

While I'm in there I will also add an external parking brake light directly to the parking brake switch.

I don't know your tractor, but have decades of experience with vehicles and 2-way radios.

If it were me, I'd mount it overhead if at all possible. This way, you can actually hear the thing if someone needs to reach you. That, and it'll never get coffee, salty boot slop or mud spilled into it.

Thank you.
I would prefer overhead as well, but the Bluetooth radio is taking up the slot.
For now, it will be as described. Since the tractor is cabbed, I am not worried about mud and the coffee cup holder is behind on the left side out of the way. Audio from the radio should be very acceptable as well. It will sure beat a HT in the cup holder.
