A really impressive video of an L2501 running a square baler while towing a hay wagon - on flat ground.

Start at the 2:20 mark to get to the description and action.

That is impressive, but two things are of note. The author borrowed the tractor, and states around 7:30 "would I use a little tractor like that regularly to bale hay? That's a hell no!"

Regardless, that is impressive for that L2501 albeit baling on flat ground. I would love to have a field like that and be able to run the MX or M in front of a haybine, hay tedder, hay rake and baler.

Of course, you would not want to do a significant amount of baling with a small tractor, but it does go the OP's question can you do limited baling (small square bales on very limited acreage) with a 25 HP compact tractor. It probably would even be a bit easier with the previously refenced small round balers.

Heck, most farmers in this area consider a 100 HP tractor to be the right size to bale with a full sized round baler.
